hey there's actually a point to watching this game! Let's continue getting the young guys on the mound. On a semi related note, would anybody support trying to move jeffress back to a starter with the success he has had? With a lot of 3's and 4's outside of peralta/ nelson I would think we would want to try a high end guy like jeffress if he had the right pitching coach. Too bad we don't have a dave duncan to work miracles on our pitchers.

I see no reason to even consider such a move. Does not seem like starter material to me.

I see that some of the images in the lead are having trouble loading. It's happening in multiple game threads, so I have to believe it's a host issue that will hopefully resolve itself.

EDIT: They appear to be loading now.

Sitting Parra in the middle of his torrid hitting is just......well.......it's just dumb.

Actually it makes a lot of sense. Lefty on the mound it is more likely to keep him confident and keep his swing nice. A day off might just keep him going.

Banuelos has had an interesting career, thus far. He was once the top pitching prospect in the Yankee organization (he and Dellin Betances, who has really become a fine pitcher). He was up and down, and if I recall correctly, had some injury issues.

Anyhow, let's jump on him tonight, and get a win on the board. Another win streak would be nice! And, before that can happen, we need a W!

The way he is hitting right now, I don't care that we are facing a lefty. It is just as likely a day off will take him out of his groove as it is to "keep him going."

I don't think you ever sit a hot hitter unless they match up so poorly against the pitcher. Parra has hit lefties to the tune of .262 this year.

Why would you sit a guy with a near 1.500 OPS the last week? Especially against a rookie in his second career start.

Exactly...

Make Davis wait a game or two before he gets action. Parra shouldn't be sitting until he cools off, if that means starting some kind of rotation between Davis and Gomez sitting every other day, so be it. Gomez can probably still use some rest since he has become so damn brittle.

Reward the guy for his hitting, and continue to play him, hopefully jacking up his trade value in the process.

I hope it isn't because CC didn't want to hurt Davis's feelings...

I don't care to look up the numbers but it sure seems like we hit a lot worse at home this season.

Wow, Paul Goldschmidt is having an historic season. Stole his 16th base tonight.

In the history of the game, no player has ever hit .350 with 40 home runs and 30 stolen bases in the same year. Goldschmidt is on a pace to do just that (though the average will likely drop some by season's end).

And he might not even win the MVP by doing that.

Joe Block said that Counsell plans to continue to start Parra most of the time.

davis has to have one of the worst arms in baseball

Was at the game and Davis cost us one maybe two runs...worst arm in major leagues. Maybe he has some sort of arm injury....just speculating or has he always had a horrible arm. Base runner caught off first didn't help things. Cravy hurt himself one inning with a two out walk that eventually scored.

One thing that bugs me is Cravy threw 104 pitches last monday...30-40 on friday...and then starts on tuesday...multiple 3 day rests. Colorado Springs was going to skip his next start to give him some rest before the callup.

ATL scored three of their four runs on soft-hit bloopers that found a hole. All of the Brewers runs scored on hard-hit balls. If a couple of those ATL hits are 4-5 feet farther/shorter/either side they get caught and the Brewers win.

The issue I have is that after a 28-pitch first inning, Davis and Cravy swing at the first pitches by Banuelos in the 2nd. He was having trouble finding the strike zone - make him find it multiple times in your at-bats.

This has been a Brewer M.O. for years. One guy walks on four pitches, the pitcher had clearly been struggling to find command throughout inning before the walk, next guy hacks at first pitch - a borderline strike - and weakly grounds out.

Davis had shoulder surgery in college and his arm just didn't come back, it's always been below average as a professional.

I actually yelled at Tucker Newhouse (as much as one can from the stands) during yesterday's Trats game because of this. They had just loaded the bases on a walk and the pitcher was all over the place. He swung at the first pitch (probably was a ball too) and hit an infield fly for the 2nd out. Stupid baseball.
