COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - The Memphis Redbirds continued their hot-hitting in a 12-4 defeat of the Sky Sox before 1,594 fans at Security Service Field on Monday night.

Sox starter Josh Roenicke (4-6, 5.71) appeared a bit rusty to begin his night, allowing seven runs on eight base knocks and three free passes to the hit-happy Redbirds through his first two frames. The right-hander settled down for a scoreless third before surrendering two more runs on the strength of a two-run shot by Memphis second baseman Dean Anna.

Roenicke wrapped up the fourth, ending his night having given up nine runs on 11 hits and four walks while striking out just two. Michael Kirkman fared only slightly better in his two innings of relief, allowing three runs over the fifth and sixth innings.

Redbirds starter Nick Greenwood (7-3, 5.42) followed a scoreless 8.1 inning performance on June 26th against the Sox in Memphis with yet another strong performance. The lefty gave up just two runs on nine hits while striking out four and walking none over seven impressive frames. Matt Clark's leadoff double in the second catalyzed the Sox first run as he came home to score on a Logan Schafer sacrifice fly. Colorado Springs scratched across one more run in the home sixth thanks to a pinch-hit RBI infield single by the recently re-activated Donnie Murphy, plating Clark and cutting the Memphis lead to 10.

Right-handed duo Austin Ross and Tim Dillard combined for three scoreless frames out of the Sox bullpen to keep the potent Redbirds lineup off the board the rest of the way.

Memphis right Joey Donofrio took over for Greenwood in the eighth, tossing a perfect eight before coming on to close out the game in the ninth. Donofrio would not secure the victory easily, allowing a leadoff base hit to Yadiel Rivera before a fielding error by left fielder Ty Kelly allowed Juan Centeno to reach second base to give the Sox two runners in scoring position with no out. Pinch-hitter Matt Long and Elian Herrera followed with back-to-back RBI groundouts, cutting the deficit to 12-4 with an out remaining. Kyle Wren grounded out in the following at-bat to end the mini-rally and the ballgame as Memphis secured the series victory with a 12-4 win.

Colorado Springs reaches 50 losses on the season after tonight's disappointing showing, falling to 32-50 in 2015. The Redbirds improve to 44-41 with the lopsided win.

The Sox will look to end their current four-game skid with a win on Tuesday night as Hiram Burgos (1-0, 2.40) is set to face off with Redbirds lefty John Gast (4-6, 4.38) in the teams' series-finale. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM MDT (8:05 Central) at Security Service Field.

Colorado Springs Box Score

We're reaching the embarrassing stage with the Brewers' AAA club, and the Cardinals' affiliate is reinforcing it.

RH reliever Austin Ross is off to an OK AAA start.

Trivia - There are seven position players members of the Brewers' 40-man roster on this team. Luis Sardinas is one, but he's on the DL. Can you name the other six, all who were in Monday's lineup? A few had decent nights as well.

Have to do something fun with these miserable Sky Sox recaps...

Final: AZL Brewers 7, AZL White Sox 3

Maryvale Box Score

Once again, solid pitching lines from all four Maryvale hurlers.

Ten errors in the game, thankfully only three by the A-Crew; four errors by the White Sox catcher.

CF Trent Clark doubled and singled in five AB's.

With the big names at the top of the order having a quiet night, let's give some love and have you focus on the final three spots in last night's lineup, as LF Nicolas Pierre, 3B Jonathan Oquendo, and 2B Daniel Leonardo combined to go 7-for-12.

Catcher Dustin Houle was 2-for-3 with a walk, including a home run.
