What do you think Parra is going to get in FA?

ewitkows
How do we define the "core" of the team? Gomez, Lucroy, and Braun have All Star potential when not hampered by injuries, but obviously injury issues have cropped up for all of them the last 2 years. Lind, Segura, Gennett, and Davis have some upside, but are probably average-ish overall. ARam is obviously on his last legs. There are no impact bats in AAA or on the bench. The starting rotation is mediocre with no potential aces. The bullpen is good, but not quite lights out, and we all know bullpens are volatile year to year. I don't think it's hard to say that the best days are already behind this group. Yeah, they're not as bad as they were in April, but this is a group that needs EVERYTHING to go right to compete and that happens very rarely in baseball.

Agreed. This team, for better or worse, was built for a "one more try" in 2015. Silly in hindsight, but if I was in Mark A's shoes, I cant say the hope of another big gate wouldnt be compelling, and probably blinding.

This team was NOT built for 2016. I don't think there WAS a plan for 2016 once they made the call to give it a shot this year.

2016 is a washout with or without Parra, so he needs to be traded ASAP to max the value of the asset.

Simple Didn't a couple Boston flakys for outfielders get 3/33mil? No doubt to me Parra has 9mil/yr attached next to his name up to that 11mil. It's all a matter of is is 3/33 or 4/36mil. You're kidding yourselfs if you believe he's a 5-6mil a year player. He's a Lefty bat if he were to revert to platoon status so pencil him in for 75%+ of the games.

As to the idea of attaching a QO next to his name....Please reconsider that. It's likely more a sure thing who the team gets in trade back for Parra being a better than the QO pick Milw would likely get. And Since the offers we're staring at are 9-11mil for me vs taking 16.+mil for one season? If his agent stopped him from accepting the offer, He won't be Parra's agent once the season started and he's still waiting to be signed.
