Rob Jeter just got fired by UWM. To me, it seems like he hasn't done anything in a while, so I'm not surprised. But according to twitter this is the worst decision ever.

According to a lot of Twitter and JSOnline commenters this is the worst decision ever and Amanda Braun needs to be fired immediately.

This feels like Braun and Jeter never got along well. It can be tough for an AD to come in and inherit a coach if their personalities don't mesh. And it feels like time anyway. Nothing against Jeter, he seems to be very well-liked by players and in the community. But he hasn't been much better than a .500 coach over 12 seasons and UWM certainly hasn't challenged for a conference championship lately. I guess it comes down to what UWM aspires to. Are they okay with being mediocre with a coach people like or do they aspire to be better, with the idea that there is risk in the unknown?

I am surprised at the attitude of whatever-his-first-name-is Nicholas, who has now apparently cancelled his season tickets to men's BB and will no longer give any money to the athletic department. He is angry that he didn't have more influence, so he's taking his wallet and going home. People like that, in my experience, usually want more wins than Jeter has produced.

My one big upset is UNI. I like some of the other potential upsets, but don't want to pick too many. Picking too many usually kills a bracket.

Looks like you chose well. :)

Nothing like banking on an upset and getting it right. Can't say I picked Michigan State to lose though. :laughing

I think Yale will beat Duke.

Wait, I mean....I think Duke will beat the crap out of Yale. :laughing

And then Yale will make a furious comeback in the 2nd half to lose by 7

On, Wisconsin! What a fun game! Very "1999".

I thought Wisconsin played a really good game yesterday, aside from the shooting struggles. What got me is how the broadcast announcers kept harping on how it was the lowest half of scoring in NCAA tournament history. Which brings me to your 1999 reference, the year the Badgers trailed 12-21 at halftime to Missouri State in the tournament. Apparently yesterday's broadcast crew can't research back that far, but I can sure remember it well enough. I still think Calderwood was rebelling against Bennett and sabotaged the game.

I think they just kept misspeaking. What they meant was this years tourny, and i think they started with that, but then got sloppy.

Purdue is a bunch of useless chokers..that was pathetic.

That's on the coach. When you're up by three don't even give them the chance to take a three to tie it. Foul them and then they have to 1) make the first one, and then 2) make them choose between trying to make the second one or deliberately missing it. If they miss it, deliberately or unintentionally, you have two 7-footers (Hammonds, Haas) and another 6'9" guy (Swanigan) to rebound and if they get the rebound block the putback. If they make it they have to foul you and you go shoot free throws on the other end, and they have to run the length of the court and get a shot off in four seconds or less. Yeah, UNI pulled it off but they make that shot one out of every 25 times - 95% chance you win the game.

Or do what Kevin O'Neill did against Kentucky when he stuck McIlvaine on the 3-point line to disrupt Kentucky's 3-point shooting. Stick Hammonds around the 3-point line and you still have Haas and/or Swanigan down low to rebound.

The end of that Purdue game was tough. I looked and it states he made the shot at 4 seconds so the ball was probably let go out of his hand at say 5/6? Almost anyone you talk to will say not to foul till it is less than 5 seconds. Before that can be a bit of a risk so rarely(even ever?) will you see someone foul with 5+ seconds. The other thing that makes it tough is the fact you don't want to foul when he is shooting because then he gets 3 free throws.

It isn't as simple as some like to make it. It sounds good in theory, but not as simple when actually playing the game. The guy hit a three...sometimes luck just isn't on your side.

Can you imagine if they fouled with 8 seconds, made 2 free throws, they fouled Purdue with 7 seconds, Purdue misses both, and then Little Rock either hit a 2 point jumper on the other end or drew a foul to make 2 free throws? Then Purdue losses in an even worse situation. Really not that crazy of a scenario either.

I heard it said "lowest scoring first half in NCAA tournament history" at least 3 times in the broadcast. Lame journalism.

Pac-12 is going to be at the end of multiple upsets....so many teams seeded wrong.

Anyone have a lower seed they are taking deep into the tourney? I have #6 Arizona making it to the Elite 8. No reason other than the fact I like them over Miami and the fact I don't like Villanova making it to the Elite 8. I just swept Arizona's garbage resume under the carpet.

Good call on the Pac-12. Kind of funny that AZ was your sleep pick after that statement. Only Oregon left from the PAC-12.

If you look I changed my mind on Arizona later on. Good thing too. I ended up having them lose in the first round.

Those lower seats in OK City must be pretty expensive. Otherwise, it's hard to believe that Oklahoma playing a tourney game in OK City is not a complete sell out. I can't imagine the Badgers playing a tourney game in Milwaukee that would not be a complete sell out.

They are pretty expensive...not something a college fan is going to buy. That is for the rich.

I would think that alumni with decent jobs could afford the tickets. It does appear that many of the empty seats from earlier in the game have filled up. It might have been people went to eat between games and did not get back.

The biggest problem is the initial sales are for the entire weekend. So you're buying 4 games on Friday and/or 2 games on Sunday.

If your team loses on Friday (or plays the first game on Sunday) you're left scrambling to try to sell your tickets off.

Badgers killed em there for about 3/4 of the half, yet lapsed and now we're down 3. Kind of disappointing really.

Hayes has got to make a shot. This is getting ridiculous...he's building the entire Southern border out of bricks for us free at this point.

Well that was neat.

That's true, but no excuse. I have been to the tourney every time Milwaukee has had games, and it's always a packed enthusiastic house. Then, when UW played at the BC two years ago it was off the charts crazy.

In fact, I notice this as I watch games throughout the tournament. How many venues are half-full, and/or no juice in the building.

It's always been a problem... but I am a bit surprised that A&M and Oklahoma couldn't fill up that arena.

Hell of a game by UW last night. I thought for sure they were done when they got down by 9 with 6 minutes or so to go. Koenig and Happ just willed the team to get back in it and of course Koenig had the ice in his veins for the last 2 shots.

Notre Dame is a very winnable game if you ask me; of course they could lose though. I feel better going into that game than going into Xavier.

Amazing they are in the Sweet 16 after where they started this year. Also amazing they were able to beat a good team like Xavier with Hayes continuing to struggle mightily. He put up a good effort on defense and on the boards but his shot is really broke right now.

Happ is already really good; I can't even really think how good he could be 3 years from now. Hopefully he continues to improve.

I was driving back home and had zero reception for much of the game. Finally got close enough to Waterloo and with 2 seconds left I got to watch the magic happen. What a great win for this team going forward, not only this season but with them being younger for next year as well. Hopefully they can knock off ND as well.
