Well, if he had good trade value he would have been traded, because they were shopping him.

It just means they didn't get as much back as they wanted and were in no rush since they can do it in the offseason. Also, supposedly a deal was done with the Pels but the owners nixed it. He received 5 max contract offers last offseason, if they lower their price a bit they'll get something back for the future. Or if he's happy in this role maybe he sticks around a while.

Trading Monroe now would have killed whatever FA good graces they've built up. Every mock draft I've seen has us taking a PF/C since no decent PG will be available. Since Henson doesn't seem to fit with the team there's no reason you can't get each of Monroe, Plumlee and another big guy plenty of minutes. That gives a couple years for a middling draft pick to develop, then trade Monroe at the end of three years and everyone ends up happy, including Monroe who would probably put up better numbers somewhere else.

Monroe signed a two year deal with a 3rd year player option. He'll be opting out after next season. Better to get something for him sooner rather than nothing for him later.

I don't see how trading Monroe would kill any good graces with future FA. If he was traded at the deadline, it would have been to a contender, so Monroe would have been eternally grateful. Dudley has also sung the praises of how the Bucks treat veterans. Besides all that, it comes down to dollars and opportunity to win for any FA.

As far as Henson goes, why do you say he doesn't fit? I think he fits perfectly, and they just extended his contract earlier this year, so the Bucks think so too. Henson is a rim protector that run the floor, finish down low, etc. They don't need scoring out of him, he's a perfect fit for what he costs and what he does.

Henson has just been hurt. I think he is a great second team Center for this team. Oddly, New York and Milwaukee were the competition for Monroe. RLopez was the consolation prize. I think Monroe would have fit better in the dumpster fire that is the NY offensive scheme, and RLo would probably have been a better fit with the Bucks. Seems like a "be careful what you wish for" scenario. IMO, Plumlee is more of a fit, I actually like how he fits with the starters. That Parker/Freak/Middleton trio is scary. If they can fill in with an athletic big and a few 3 and D guys, they are a power in the east. Hope Kidd is smart enough to see that, and not chase another big name this offseason.

Yea, I think that's the positive that's come out of this season. I agree with you, pretty obvious what they need to fit around Giannis, Jabari, and Middy. Seemed like they needed a traditional PG, but I don't think that's necessary anymore. Ideally, I would like two bigs (rim protectors) to go along with Plumlee and Henson and a couple 3 and D guys to go a long with Bayless. They can get one guy in the draft, one for a Monroe trade, and a FA to fit Mayo's slot. So this is very do-able.

One more shooter to extend defenses and then a healthy Henson would go a long way to a playoff run. I value a veteran combo guard (Dudley was great) to round things out. I don't mind MCW as the back-up PG, so long as Kidd plays him as such.

There are lots of things I like about the design. But I think they made a mistake by not considering the overall statement it makes. It seems a design by committee where the chief buzzwords used to describe Milwaukee were "water", "gritty", and "industrial" and they were just combined.

I don't know about you but I'd rather not have a major architectural statement be "Milwaukee = brown, industrial water".

"Just to reiterate what we are watching with Giannis - he now has the most triple doubles by a player under 22 other than Magic Johnson in NBA history."

G was awesome last night. If the Bucks can get a "3-and-D" guard to play with him and Parker continues to ascend (and be at least adequate on D)...we could be seeing the start of something truly fun to watch.

...and now 23 games under .500 since Brandon and the Lakers' pick was donated in the MCW disaster.

Not sure if you missed it but the Phoenix Suns won a grand total of 22 games this season. Brandon played in a total of 52 games this year (and is out yet again), and also only made it to 11 games post trade. He's been a nonfactor.

23 games under and giving away a lottery pick for MCW can't be explained away. Maybe Knight gets hurt in Milwaukee, maybe not. I'm amazingly frustrated that in 17 months the Bucks can lose 23 more games then they win...and we assume the leadership is actually trying to put together a viable product.
