Did the Brewers take anybody who will cost 'over-slot'?

I'm just curious if the Brewers took anybody who fell because of signability concerns. I know it was thought that they might because they had no 2nd round pick, but I haven't seen any word of whether they actually did that or not.

Jonathan White will probably take more to sign. He's a draft eligible sophomore and can play for two more seasons at Vandy if he wants.

edit: Ijames will probably also need more to sign.

11th rounder Cody Scarpetta and 23rd rounder Cody Hawn look like tough signs, guys with some upside who could improve their stock in college ball after some injury issues in HS.

Most of the HS kids taken in the late rounds are unlikely to sign, at least if past trends hold.

Just how many players do the Brewers need to sign to fill in AZ and Helena, and replace the current players who have flamed out?

I wonder if they will sign a few more than previously to make up for the lack of the draft and follow.

one thing the Brewers can do with some of the tweeners is sign them to 2008 contracts. That would allow someone to finish up school or perhaps play in a wood-bat league this summer rather than pack our Rookie Ball rosters.

This is moot now, but I just heard it from a pretty reliable source:

The Brewers called Anthony Ranaudo 3 days before the draft and offered him 250K; he rejected it. The night before the draft the Brewers called him again and asked him if he would accept 350K in the 3rd round; he rejected it. He told them he wouldn't sign for less than 500K. He was later drafted by the Rangers in the 11th round. I'm sorry if this has been already talked about, but I just heard it from a source pretty close to the situation.

There's this note from Cody:

?With my injury, the Brewers said they want to track my progress throughout the summer,? Scarpetta said. ?If everything is well with my hand, they want me to sign. But I?m not going to rule out college.?

So, it may be a little while, but he wants to sign.
