No surprise, Orlando Arcia is lone Brewer representative in the MLB Futures Game. Best of luck to him and glad to see his rise as a prospect!

JACKSONVILLE, FL - Major League Baseball has announced the participants for the 2015 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game at Great American Ballpark, in Cincinnati and Biloxi shortstop Orlando Arcia was selected to play for the World squad in the showcase event. The Futures Game, on July 12 at 2:00 p.m. CT is part of All-Star Sunday at Great American Ball Park, preluding the 85th MLB All-Star Game on July 14. Biloxi pitching coach Chris Hook will serve in the same capacity leading the U.S. pitching staff during the game.

 

Arcia, the lone player representative for the Milwaukee Brewers' organization and is currently batting .307 with 4 home runs, 36 RBI, and ranks at or near the top of the league with 79 hits (2nd), 19 doubles (T-1st), 41 runs (5th) and third-toughest to strikeout in the league at 1/9.72 PA.

 

The 20-year-old Arcia is the second-youngest player in the Southern League and was signed by the Brewers as a non-drafted free-agent in 2010 out of Anaco, Venezuela. The shortstop also was named a Southern League mid-season All-Star and is currently rated by MLB.com as the No. 73 overall prospect in baseball. Current Shuckers' starting pitcher Jorge Lopez represented the Brewers at the 2014 Futures Game at Target Field in Minnesota.

 

Hook, serving in his eighth season as a coach in the Brewers' organization has led the 2015 pitching staff to a 3.20 ERA, which ranks second in the Southern League. The starting rotation has a 3.13 ERA with 26 quality starts and the bullpen comes in with a 3.34 ERA, holding the opposition to just a .222 average. The Shuckers have the best WHIP in the league at 1.21 and have surrendered the fewest hits in the league. The staff has collected the second-most strikeouts in the Southern League, 531 this season.
