Gomez to Giants

I'd be thrilled if the Brewers could pull off a Gomez trade for very good prospects

MLB Network this morning speculated that the Giants might be interested in Gomez

Here are a few of the Giants' more intriguing prospects

Mac Williamson's power numbers are down at age 24 in AA ball, but he's still hitting .296/.368 .... he's a big corner outfielder type. Not an elite prospect but someone to watchhttp://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=willia028joh

Keurry Mella, pitcher who throws in the mid to high 90's. Having a good year in A+ ball at age 21 this year http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=mella-000keu

Kyle Crick was a 1st Round pick in 2011. He's battled control problems his whole career. His ERA is down this year in AA Ball at the age of 22 but his WHIP is still way too high (1.624). Not who I would want as the centerpiece of a Gomez trade, but the type of pitcher the Giants would look to move as buyers

Tyler Beede has the big name from being a college star and 1st round pick but has struggled in AA Ball with a 5+ ERA and 1.243 WHIP with a K/9 rate way down to 5

Chrisian Arroyo is a solid SS prospect but certainly no Orlando Arcia. Arroyo can play 2B & 3B but he's another .300/.336 guy and the Brewers have a ton of them

I'd be pretty happy with a combination of Crick & Mella. Think Mella has real potential. Doubt the Giants would give up on Beede so soon but could see the Giants offering Beede & Crick and trying to keep Mella. We'll see....

Could see the negotiations starting at Crick & Williamson

Honestly I wouldn't want either Crick or Beede from Giants today.

Both are in AA and both still have control issues. I understand that both also have a very high upside but the Brewers have demonstrated no ability to reign in pitchers with control issues since I found bf.net and started following the minors.

Beede's mechanics were overhauled and he switched to a 2 seam FB which led to his early success this season.

Crick drags his arm, the Giants have been working on his mechanics since he was drafted but it hasn't clicked yet either.

If they are best talent we could possible get for Gomez... well okay, but people really shouldn't expect more than what we've gotten with Ariel Pena or Johnny Hellweg, both Giants' pitchers have outstanding stuff but it's the rest that's worrisome since control is my primary guiding factor.

Keury Mella is an interesting guy, another with difficult mechanics but he's actually made it work so far. I'd be most comfortable with him given his relatively low walk rates at each level, though this year's bump in that regard and his rotator cuff issue last year worry me some. He probably safely projects as a #3, if his stuff continues to improve he could be better, if his control regresses he could be a BP guy.

The Giants are known for how well they develop their pitchers. If the Giants can't fix these guys, I don't think the Brewers have a chance.

I am a fan of Arroyo but he is not in the class of Arcia...Giants are not a great partner for us honestly

For Gomez. Agreed.

I think they would be a great landing spot for Parra.

Give me Mella for Parra and Im thrilled. Basically replaces the loss of Banda.

Arroyo is not going to be a SS when he gets to the majors he should be moved to 2B. But that is just my opinion.

This is what I thought would be a some what fair trade for Gomez to the Giants.
