Going to KC - Any Suggestions??

brwrsfan

The wife and I have planned a last minute trip to see the Brewers in KC next week.

It's a quick two day trip (with two night games), but we've never been there before and don't really know anything in the city. I'm sure we'll want to grab some BBQ at some point, but other than that, we're pretty much wide open all day Wednesday and Thursday.

Anyone have any suggestions of things to see or do? Any restaurants or bars we must check out??

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

We did a family trip to Kansas City last summer. Much of our time was spent chasing the kids around Worlds of Fun, but a friend of mine recommended the Steamship Arabia museum. The museum evolved from a group of friends that locate and excavate a civil war era paddle wheeler that had sunk in the Missouri River. If you have a few hours, it is worth a stop.

Must go to Oklahoma Joe's BBQ. I believe it's on the Kansas side, it's in an old gas station. Amazing food. Schlitterbon is fun, if you want to spend a day at a water park. All the stuff we did was kid oriented, so not sure I'd be much help. The Crown plaza area has a lot of stuff...

This reminds me how much there is to see and do in Milwaukee- especially during the summer. We get looked down on nationally, but we look like New York compared to KC.

Above suggestions are good, but really that's about it. And I like KC, but other than great BBQ and a couple museums (WWI museum is another) , not a whole lot to actually see/do there.

If you don't have any kids (or don't have them with you), check out the Power & Light district downtown. There is a boutique hotel a few blocks away - Hotel Phillips - that I think is owned by the same ownership group as the Pfister Hotel. The rooms are small, but you can get really good deals there through hotel sites and blind booking sites (Priceline, Hotwire, etc.) because they are independent/not part of a big chain. If you like beer, hit the Flying Saucer Draught Emporium.
