Scooter Gennett Back Up; Goforth to AAA

Thought the Perez experiment would be over. Anyway, seems like Scooter's figured things out. Will be nice to have him back, as long as it isn't the impostor that was hanging around at the start of this season.

Won't be surprised if the next move is Perez down, Chapman up.

As for Scooter, it's all on him. I wouldn't mind a platoon at 2B the next couple years if Scoot can really pick it up against RHP. They have Sardinas, Gomez, Rivera who could all potentially platoon with him.

Goforth hasn't pitched the entire road trip and Smith returns today. Why would anyone be surprised that would be the move? Goforth was simply providing insurance in case the bullpen got burned through. That's not to say he didn't do well or hasn't earned a longer look. But there just wasn't opportunities to use him when the guys in front of him were performing well. They need to keep trotting Broxton out there if teams are showing interest.

Scooter was 12 for 32 against lefties down in AAA with 5 doubles, a triple, a HR and 8 RBI and a 1.099 OPS. His last start was against lefty major leaguer Danny Duffy who was making a rehab start for Omaha. Scooter ripped an RBI double off him. Just let him play.

I agree. If Scooter has a hot streak, he becomes a trade asset - say, with the Mets. Young, relatively cheap... could be enough to pry a couple more prospects.

That gives the Crew some time to sort out an extension with Segura.

Perez is not the answer nor is a major league player. I would rather give these AB's to Scooter to see if he can recreate his production last season. If not I would rather give these AB's to Sardinas or Gomez.

Scooter's going to play everyday other than the occasional day off vs. a tough lefty. Sardinas needs development. He's not physically ready for the major leagues. Gomez has reached his ceiling which is as a utility player.

Perez has the body and the tools. He's just lacked the production so far. It's too bad they can't combine Rogers ability to hit off the bench in a part time role with Perez' defense. He's fine as late inning PR/defensive replacement for Ramirez who's aging before our eyes.
