Lonnie Chisenhall got optioned by the Indians. While this year he hasn't been good, he's had a couple of good seasons. He's about avg defensively and could be a decent stop gap till we get one from the draft. Maybe we could flip a reliever(krod or Broxton or cotts) to them for him?

I was wondering if the Brewers might take a shot at him when I saw he was demoted. Yes, he's been pretty terrible but I can't imagine it would take much to get him and there really are no options in the minors for a few years.

I was thinking this same thing. We have no 3B in the minors. Chisenhall is controlled through 2017, so he might be the kind of player who could fill a hole in the roster for a few years.

I guess it comes down to evaluating the guy, and the club seeing some value there. I don't know enough about him or have I seen much of him. I think And That advocated going after him before 2014.

He had a good 3 month span last yr and that is it. July-Oct he hit .225 with 5 hr and 23 rbi in 258 AB's

July-Oct last year Ramirez hit 4 HR and drove in 26 in 282 AB's.

This year their numbers are almost identical. Ramirez is making $14 million this year and turns 37 this month. Chisenhall turns 27 in October and is making $2.25 million.

I'd gamble on Chisenhall improving some if you could get him cheap. At worst, you have the present day Ramirez for a lot less.

Good idea, and with him being LH I really like it, but with the Indians being six back I don't know that they are in "go for it" mode. They would have to go on a hot streak and make up some ground first. I think it would have to be part of a 3-way deal, with the Brewers sending a veteran to someone, that team sends a young-ish player to CLE (CF? Not sure what their needs and upper-level prospect situations are). I'd like to think that the Brewers could get more than Chisenhall for K-Rod, but maybe that's not reality.

That being said, the core of the Indians (Kluber, Bauer, Salazar, Santana, Kipnis, Brantley, etc.) are still in their 20's, so maybe they are in go-for-it mode. Someone who might be very appealing to them is Gomez; Bourn isn't doing them any favors in CF, and with Gomez under contract for another 1.5 years that may be very appealing. If they do make a run, a 5th starter, particularly one who is under contract for a couple more years while their core is in their prime, might be very valuable to them as well.
