2015 Draft Pick Discussion, Rounds 6-20

Please use this thread to share your thoughts, links, stories, pictures and anything else on the Brewers' picks on draft day from rounds 6 through 20. Please do not start separate threads to discuss the individual picks.

Please use the in-draft thread to talk about the picks, similar to a game thread.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Since we're on a new thread...thanks to everyone for filling me in on the prospects and some of the inner workings of the draft. I'm not that into the prospects like I am with the NFL and NBA, but I like to follow what's going on. Thanks for those in the know for helping me out and answering my questions.

Just saw that Lucroy's brother is in the draft

And was selected out of high school in the 29th round by the Brewers. It'll be interesting if they attempt to draft him again. Anyone have a clue at what wound that kid would be looking at going?

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Luke Wakamatsu (Don's son) is an intriguing HS prospect. Probably a tough sign but a 6'3" SS with high Baseball IQ and a great bat

Seen that too but that was my thought. Not signable for Milw's money pool left to sign likely

Probably looking at a college pitcher in Round 6 then

Meh, thought they could have taken another player or two at this point, still plenty of rounds for the signable guys. but i guess the higher you take them the more slot you can bank, maybe they have a guy they are eyeing later for over slot.

Brewers select:

Eric Hanhold, RHP, Florida

Has touched 95 apparently. Pitched out of the bullpen for the Gators. They are still playing in the CWS, so maybe we can catch him on TV.

Could possibly pitch against Kirby, too, as Virginia and Florida are on the same side of the bracket.

I've seen Hanhold pitch a few times. He is fairly inconsistent but has some velocity & talent. If the Brewers can get him to be more consistent in the strike zone he could develop into a solid MLB relief pitcher. Pitches out of the bullpen for Florida. Reminds me a little of a RHP version of Will Smith who was taken in the 7th round

The University of Florida product was 1-0 with a 4.26 ERA, 23 strikeouts and 11 walks in 25 1/3 innings over 14 appearances, including four starts, this season. A 6-foot-5, 205-pound righty, Hanhold played for the Orleans Firebirds in the Cape Cod League last summer, going 1-2 with a 3.42 ERA in six games (four starts). Hanhold was picked by the Phillies in the 40th round of the 2012 Draft, but he chose to play for the Gators instead. He went winless with a 5.88 ERA as a freshman, then finished 4-3 with three saves and a 4.20 ERA in 25 appearances as a sophomore, striking out 36 and walking 18 in 49 1/3 innings

Well based on how it works. You take Hanhold now sign him for underslot meaning you keep that entire slot's money to use. And sign overslot on the guy you'd rather have for rd 6 or somewhat higher money few rounds later. If he declines, that slot for rd 9 or 10 is less than what you'd lose for the slot at rd 6. Gotta be getting to the point where you have 1 of these signings left say 700k-800k to offer. Maybe for Milw. So after the Demi O pick there's a strong chance he was the final Upside pick of the day. A run of College signing types left....or one last savings up for one more HS pick to lure away.
