Nash Walters - RHP, Lindale HS in Texas

6'5" Texas A&M recruit. He is "what they look like". Brewers must be confident they can sign him and that he is projectable. Fastball cruises @ high 80's/low 90's right now

I'm assuming they think they can sign Walters if they are drafting him here.

I'm also assuming Chalmers and Everett are falling due to how much money they must be asking for.

We're also into the part of the draft where the consensus breaks down. Could be they just think Walters is better than those guys.

Apparently Walters has touched 95mph

Touching it is nice. Living there is better. :tongue

Absolutely. He's 18 years old though. He could/should develop more strength/velocity

It would be so sweet if Everett feel to the Brewers.

Justin Hooper looks intriguing. A 6'7 lefty... Don't know much about him though.

Did anyone catch that quote from Montgomery last night, when he admitted he loves left-handed pitching?

Shouldn't everyone!? ;)

Great sounding pick on Walters.

Team should just draft upside all day, offer slot and if not signed, take the comp pick and money for next year through rd 10. Afterwards where slot money no longer applies, draft the college seniors the rest of the way.

Well, we drafted three fairly high upside pitchers that are kind of like lottery tickets. Maybe one of them emerges as a top of the rotation type.

I would have drafted Brady Aiken, which was proven up as he was taken two picks later so I wasn't "way off". I also like Chris Betts so if I came out of it with Aiken and Betts I would have been happy. We will see if I ended up right or if Ray Montgomery ended up right. Having said all that, I do like Trent Clark, at least he is a high IQ batter and a top of the order, high OBP guy with 4 tools.

I was terrified we were going to take a low upside college arm. So, at least the consolation is that we took a batter with smarts from the left side, which we lack, and then took 3 lottery tickets on decent upside pitchers right after that. Who knows how projectable the high school pitcher is. It could be anything on his ceiling. So, there's that.
