I'm excited to see how Wagner does.

How long are Brewers tied to Colorado Springs?

Through next season.

How about they follow Biloxi's lead and play all their games on the road?

Nice thing about Colorado is next season Arcia, Taylor, Ramirez, Reed, and rest of that wave will be loading up the confidence tearing up the league. Negitive, pitching will be rough

But do you worry about hitters picking up bad habits and having trouble hitting away from Coors Field Lite?

Colorado Springs may be even worse than Coors Field. The city is about 1000 feet higher than Denver.

Not to get totally off topic but isn't the issue in those places the huge outfields (deep fences) leading to lots of extra base hits and not so much the amount of homeruns? If that's the case, I don't think it should make a difference for hitters. It's not like they're going up there just trying to put the ball in the air and hope it goes out like right handed hitters in Houston.

Like the move. It's not like Wagner has pitched in optimal conditions, not yet playing a home game. AAA in Colorado Springs and AA homeless until June 7th, does anyone even come close to a worse farm situation? He's put up good numbers, and we have nothing to lose. Better someone with potential than another washout making the roster while someone playing well is slow rolled.

Found this tweet interesting, and the reply somewhat funny:

With Tyler Wagner (@_TylerWagner_) making his MLB debut on Sunday, the #Brewers will be the last team in the majors to use a sixth starter.

Keith Mayer ‏@mayerke 5h5 hours ago

@MikeVassallo13 @Haudricourt Brewers will also be last team to 17 wins. Perhaps those events have something to do with one another.

In a 'farm interview' the other day, I heard that the Colorado AAA park is middle of the pack in home runs allowed. Maybe the fences are at 450 ft. I dont know. But in the other PCL parks you have dry air, as opposed to thin air. By the way, what does this say about Cravy's 4.04 ERA after 8 or 10 starts at AAA. I thought he would get the call.

I can not separate Taylor Williams from Tyler Wagner in my head. Every time either one is mentioned, it confuses me which one is being discussed...

I haven't followed the move to Colorado Springs much to where i know about the ballpark, but i always thought when watching games at Coors Field that the very vast ground to cover in the outfield lead to more runs than homers flying out of the park.

Outfielders had to play deep and thus so many shallow balls would fall in for singles. The gaps were so large, it lead to many doubles/triples. So innings were prolonged by would be outs in other parks falling in for hits. Mix in the home runs and pitches like curves and sliders not breaking as much was a nightmare.

I sure hop the team isn't stuck there long term.

It was just a few weeks ago I posted that we'd likely see one or more the AA starters in Milwaukee before this year was over and the reaction of many was I was nuts. I may be nuts but not for suggesting that. I was a little off in my timing. I figured it would happen after Lohse was traded/waived. Last place teams go through tons of pitchers plus it's a widely held belief in baseball that anyone that succeeds in AA can hold his own in the majors. Wagner has been very, very good the last two years. He's earned it. The jump from AA to AAA is probably the most insignificant jump in the minors. AA is filled with guys mostly on their ascent, while AAA is littered with guys just hanging on. Wouldn't shock me a bit if other arms on the Biloxi staff get a look.

AAA is an intriguing place to me. What should it be? And now that we have been forced to be in a place we, seemingly dont like, the clouds of Colorado, again, we can ask... 'what should it be?'

Should it be the place of grizzled vets - ex MLB guys having one last year, ready to come up and fill in when needed? The roster would be rebuilt every year from the 'last cut' guys of spring training all around the league.

Should it be the place of the 26 year old 'give me a chance, skip' hopeful, ready to fill in a gap (ala Peterson for Davis), and hopefully prove they can be MLB average players for their couple of peak years - 26 to 28 ages?

Should it have any prospects at all? Maybe for that part year you stash them to get that 'extra year' service time. Maybe prospects need to go there so learn the nuances, be schooled, by playing with and against those crafty vets. It does seem in AA you learn to hit quality pitching. In AAA you learn to hit Bartolo Colon.

Should it be purgatory for the 'fall from grace guys' (Scooter who may be redeemed, and Logan who seems destined to not be redeemed).

I guess if an organisation was full of prospects you need AAA (somewhere to put them). But in the Brewers case, they need to figure out, really what to do with AAA - on a philosophical level.

So my guess is that Wagner replaces Davis on the active roster today, and then we have to make another move tomorrow with a bullpen arm in order to get another outfielder here in time for the game in St Louis on Monday?

Per Craig Counsell, Tyler's being sent back down. That wasn't the plan, but the Brewers need a fresh arm for tomorrow. Craig "guesses" that Tyler will go to Biloxi, but he said that the destination "wasn't even discussed."

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

guessing Fiers likely goes tomorrow, with a minor leaguer on Tuesday. Garza likely pushed back to Thurs or Fri. Maybe pitching without any preparation helped Garza to stop overthinking.

The Brewers purchased the contract of right-hander Tyler Cravy from Triple-A, the team announced. Cravy, a 17th-round pick in 2009, has a 3.71 ERA, 2.97 K/BB rate and 8.7 K/9 over 460 2/3 career minor league innings. per mlbtraderumers.com

Alright, so just to make sure I have this correct:

Wagner was called up and replaced Davis

Cravy was called up to replace Wagner

Lucroy still has to be activated and Smith is about to get suspended so we have a 24 man roster for the duration of his suspension.

Yup. Its a complete mess.

People were worried Wagner would not miss enough bats. They were right. Hopefully Cravy has an out pitch.
