Brewers aim to stay hot at Citi Field vs. Mets, deGrom

By Joe Trezza / MLB.com | 5/15/2015 10:20 PM ET

The Brewers are in the middle of their first trip to Citi Field since last June, and it appears as if they missed the place. No visiting National League team has a better winning percentage at Citi since the ballpark opened in 2009 than Milwaukee (.700), which turns to Matt Garza when the two teams continue a three-game series Saturday.

New York will counter with Jacob deGrom in an attempt to snap its first five-game losing streak of the season.

Things to know about this game

• Garza is coming off his best outing of the year, when he struck out nine over seven innings in a no-decision against the Cubs on May 10. deGrom also faced the Cubs his last time out, but he endured one of his worst performances of the season, allowing four walks and four runs over five innings. Both pitchers have dropped three of their last four decisions.

• The Mets' bats went quiet again in Friday's 7-0 loss, with New York managing just two hits in eight innings against Kyle Lohse. It was the 13th time in 17 contests the Mets have scored three runs or fewer. New York remains in the NL's bottom five in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, hits and runs scored.

• Friday's game was notable in that the Brewers played with a full bench for the first time in a week. Third baseman Aramis Ramirez had missed six consecutive starts with a stiff lower back, but he started against the Mets and was under no restrictions, according to manager Craig Counsell.

Oh Scooter...

He needs AAA time. His swing looks like poop and has zero confidence.

I'm probably one of the biggest Scooter supporters on this board, but I think he needs to figure some things out, and a trip to AAA might do him some good.

I stood behind Davis when he was struggling, but he was still seeing the ball taking walks. Gennett on the other hand has zero confidence, swinging at everything, not taking pitches...absolutely the worst hitter possible.

I am a bit tired of watching him. It has only been about 60 at-bats because of the injury, but I have seen nothing positive all year.

Gennett has always been this type of hitter and pitchers are now exploiting it. It's a reason why there was a pretty sizable group of us that didn't think he was much more than a cheap platoon guy that you use for a few years while he's cheap until someone better comes along.

It seems like you have to hit a ball about 500 feet in a normal park for it to travel 370 at Citi Field.

Ugly in a hurry. Take out Aram, Braun, Gomez and try again tomorrow.

I hadn't flipped on a Brewers game in about a week, but I made the mistake of turning on this game while I did my minor league stuff... what a disaster this game is. Garza's ERA has ballooned to almost 6 after this debacle. I was curious so I looked at the Brewer rotation and the only starter with an ERA under 4 is Peralta (3.80), for all the whining about the offense this team has pitched just as bad, they are 15th in team ERA coming into today's action, only better than Colorado.

Typically I view pitching by runs allowed and in that category they are dead last with 179.

Too bad you didn't tune in last night. Much more fun!

This game was out locally on Charter for about half the game. When I finally got to see it, the game was already 8-0. What a debacle.

I don't understand why Scooter Gennett doesn't get sent down. There's no shame in it; he's still a young player. This team is desperately trying to dig out of a hole and stay relevant (I guess), so why continue to trot out a guy who is this unproductive right now? How can you honestly say, "We're trying to win", when you start someone like that, game after game?
