Greg Hardy Suspension

tmwiese55

No I wouldn't say I feel bad either. It's better than ignoring it like they used to. I did just see that the NFLPA is likely going to sue the NFL on this, like they did with Peterson when they won.

I think it's cleary media driven. ESPN is picking which stories/players to pursue and then the NFL responds. The NFL only cares about the PR, it's why they don't do anything to the ones that ESPN doesn't obsess over. To me it's just my hypocrisy detector going more than anything. Drop the bomb on these guys if you want, just don't pick and choose which ones you do.

What I'd prefer to see is the NFL and NFLPA sit down and put together a set list of penalties depending on the severity of the crime. Not based on the specific incident, but based on the class of felony or misdemeanor the player or executive is eventually guilty of. Maybe even a penalty for just being charged with something, too. No more public complaints because the punishment will be right there in the rules.

Steroids.

Countless NFL players get suspended for using illegal substances and barely a peep is spoken.

Again, it's the media's job to promote stories they think are interesting to their audience. Anyone that has video showing his actions- that will be a bigger story than a player with no video. Player with a bigger name? Bigger story than a no-name player. You can go on and on. Steroids, PEDs, there's just nothing new there. Now if Peyton Manning or Aaron Rodgers would get caught....huge story. That's just how it works folks.

That's true for ESPN, yea the public is going to be even more than they already are if they're pumping all day about a back CB (well they do that with Tebow I guess, haha). but the NFL shouldn't frame their decision making off what espn obsesses over. It should be equal for all as someone else just said, I'm sure it'll be a point of emphasis in the next CBA

Citizens don't get the same punishments in criminal prosecutions, why should employees in the business world? I personally love the discretionary process. Know a surefire way to keep your name out of the media?.... "Stop Breaking the Law!"
