Which Long-Dormant Brewerfan Poster Would You Like To See Chime In?

Mass Haas
Brian the Automator

Yeah, what ever happened to Brian? Is that why the website is dead?

I've always wondered if posters disappeared or if they just changed names.

Me too. I personally have been posting on this site since 2002 or 2003 when I was a young high school student. Back to the Brad Nelson, Dave Krynzel, Mike Jones, JJ Hardy, Cory Hart, Prince Fielder, Manny Parra, Ben Diggins, Callex Crabbe, Kennard Bibbs, Ben Hendrickson, Luis Martinez, Christian Guerrero, Pedro Liriano, Tom Wilhelmson, Steve Moss, Kade Johnson, Jason Belcher, and JM Gold days......that is when I found this site and began to LOVE minor league baseball!

Since then I have gone through gosh knows how many names....the last ones I remember were BrewCrewWS2008 that I created in 2006 or so, then YoungGeezy to now YoungGeezy1. I wish I could remember what my old ones before that were...

Proud member since 2003 (geez ha I was 14 then)

FORMERLY BrewCrewWS2008 and YoungGeezy don't even remember other names used

I'm so bad at remembering names. I remember avatars and almost associate them with all you! Like homer, I think of you sometimes as someone who looks a lot like T Plush! Ha. So don't change your avatars everyone!

This is how I am as well. A lot of the names mentioned here I didn't remember until I saw them and I instantly thought of the avatar that was associated with them. For example, Brian the Automator. Always remember that avatar wondered if it was him or someone else (looks like Alex Van Halen to me).

I do miss the days when the site was more active, but this is still a site I visit on just about a daily basis. I feel it's the best place to get the general pulse of how Brewer fans are reacting to various things happening with the Brewers. It's also a great site to ask general questions (baseball and non-baseball related) and know that you are going to get knowledgeable and honest answers. Great people on this site, even if I don't always agree with them. :)

In a lot of ways the internet coverage MLB franchises has grown up as a result of fan sites like Brewerfan.net. My friend in college was a Giants/A's fan, but he would come here to check out thoughts on prospects.

I miss a lot of the old posters. I miss all sorts of conversations--OPS, AVG, WARP, or the eye test? I found the site in college thanks to Jim Powell, and now I'm a 34 year old HS teacher and golf coach.

I miss many people. Good to see Brian chime in. I'm hoping things are looking up for you, Brian. Thanks for all you've done here.

I definitely miss AndThat and the monthly Power 50. He always had (has) great insight.

I miss when the board was active and topics and debate were frequent. I wish all those guys that have been mentioned would re-appear.

I was a banned one who has been around since the espn days. Tried to come back a few times, but the mods banned my IP for a few years. Used a proxy or whatever you call it to hide my IP and came back under some other name. But after a couple years rest my work changed ISP, my IP was new, so I came back regular now

My claim to fame is I got going the Hart elbow thing and Clancy bit (sorry Clancy, I was just trying to support you!)

I miss the guy with RickeyHenderson in his name. And i liked Reed and Clancy. And Al annoyed me so much I liked him

G'day Brian. My son, now grown, is wanting to do this DJ thing. Good luck to you, on it. It was a great, great thing you set up (this brewerfan). Well done. It will continue. Thanks for it... Hoffy. (please dont ban me! :) )

[sarcasm]Why did Ben Hendrickson's dad stop coming by?[/sarcasm]

He stopped coming when his son was traded (or DFAed, I can't be bothered to remember) from the organization. He ended his tenure here with some epically idiotic behavior and was banned. I hold the personal distinction of making a post that got the final thread about his son locked up.

I wonder what happened with NBO Joe. He was a character on here and the AOL message boards and I loved his website tributes to past Brewers. I seem to recall him having health issues, but loved his enthusiasm.

You noticed that I put that in sarcasm blue, right? ;) Good times, people... good times. :)

I wonder if Hoffy still exists.

I remember Brian as "Squarepusher"

Wasn't Hoffy the one that accused you of trying build up the value of the site just so you could sell it?

And then there was the guy whose name I won't repeat but he came on for like a week, was asked to change his name because it was a slur on a particular group of people (of whom this fella was associated with), then he threatened to come to a Brewerfan tailgate and disrupt the proceedings. He was a peach!

I never accused Brian or trying to build up to sell (not that I recall). I got banned because I would rail against stupid in game decisions and a lot of the mods were very calm and not liking controversy. Also, I was anti sabre metrics, because years ago it had no concept of a line drive. BABIP was completely random according to the mods. And if one aruged vehemently against that, well, they did not like it. At least a couple years after I pressed the idea of a LINE DRIVE having a better chance of being a hit than a pop up - it has dawned on some 'deep thinkers' it could be true. I should have patented the idea 'line drives are indicative of the pitcher not doing well and/or the batter doing very well; line drives are not a random event'. How much I could have made. Squillions.

I just forgot my password and had job stuff to do but i still read weekly the site! Though maybe people don't remember me. I do have a fancy brewerfan.net pillow!

I do remember your username. That's quite the foursome you picked!

Also, I had no idea that a BF.net pillow existed.

Haha, there is in fact still a Cafepress store with Brewerfan merchandise!

http://www.cafepress.com/bfdotnet

You can still get a throw pillow in any of the logos shown there. The hawing yard actually features a yard sign with the "Because it Snows in October" graphic. My S.O. has a Pocket Doppler baseball jersey.

A portion of sales there will go back into the site, so if you're ardent about bf.net, check it out. :)

Edit: And for those of you marveling at the option of a Thong: bf.net lore holds that someone actually ordered one once. With which graphic, I don't know. It wasn't me.

boy, so many "I miss that guy!" thoughts from every single comment. Such a nice thing about this site is getting to somewhat know a lot of the posters on here, that it's not always the anonymity that you get everywhere else. Someone recently remembered that I'd hiked the Appalachian Trail, but I hadn't posted about that in a year--this site has a great way of making a person feel special that you don't otherwise get online. I'd also gotten some encouraging PMs from a few of our long-lost posters which truly lifted my spirits at the time. You guys are the best.

I recently watched Nigel Hayes' video where he visited the UW library and when he talked to one of the librarians I kept thinking "Huh, I wonder if that's Hawing."

Aw, that's nice. Unfortunately, it was a different library (UW-Madison has a few dozen libraries) and not me. They should do stuff like that at my library, though, because it's much more attractive than the place they like to choose.

I did see Sam Dekker visit my library earlier this spring as part of a class tour. Also, one of the basketball players owes us a fine. Before you ask, I can't disclose who it is.

I think part of the reason that Brewerfan.net is less active is because of how many more options there are. Back in the day, this was the only place to find out about prospects, rankings and the minors. Now there are all kinds of sites out there.

Before I found this site, I used to post on a message board moderated by Gregg Hoffman (who wrote "Down in the Valley"), but it wasn't very active. I figured there had to a better place for Brewer discussions and a search brought me here (actually to that horrible message board site that predated Yuku. What was it called?)

Edit: It was ezboard.

I had mentioned PrinceFielderx1 as well. I want him to absolutely guarantee to me again this season that we are for sure going to be World Champions.

Only if our pitchers pitched outside and low and our batters didn't swing at pitches there. That's the key to winning it all!
