Which Long-Dormant Brewerfan Poster Would You Like To See Chime In?

Mass Haas

I think Brian did a lot of the technical stuff on the website, so yeah, I think that when he left it all sort of just died. Too bad he didn't hand it off to someone else. I don't know if there was an issue or anything that made him not do so. Never know.

He still owns the site, but he's focusing on other things in his life now. He might still be lurking around here for all I know.

I miss a lot of the initial crew from the great ESPN migration.

Brian was instrumental. I still bump into him around town now and again, and it's always nice to see him.

GenoSeligPrieb always had an original, well thought out take on the team. He was on the ancient Fastball site, way back in the early days of the Internet.

BigReed was great. He would defend his point of view relentlessly. Couldn't spell worth a darn.

Clancyphile is still around, I think. Always an original take on things, usually involving players making position changes.

Foamboy came around later. He never posted much, but he had reliable inside team sources and gave us the advance scoop a few times.

Al the Thinking Man. People got on him for his arrogant attitude, but I always wondered if he was putting that on just to draw the reaction. I wonder if he still writes that blog, Al's Ramblings.

Katullu was great. Back when they still let us talk politics and religion we could get a roaring debate going.

As for me, I was here at the beginning but don't post much anymore. Used to be that I had the time, now life is busier. I used to have the time to find out things to post. Now, I come here to read and I find out a lot of Brewers news for the first time right here.

I'm glad the next generation is here. This has always been a great community. It's outstanding that it has continued all this time and remained the quality board that it always was.

Al's Ramblings is definitely still up and running. Just checked it a few days ago actually.

Someone refresh my memory.... who was the poster who always bragged about the seriously epic amounts of alcohol he drank and told everyone his scandalous alcohol fueled stories?

GET PADDLED

We had a drunk thread for a while. Anyone that posted said they were getting "GP'd".

I miss all the guys that have gotten banned. Namely Hoffy and bjamesw22

I really enjoyed the chat room when it was active. The real-time discussion was very, very fun.

Agreed. I enjoyed many games that weren't exactly great Brewers outings, just chatting away with others in the chat room. Unfortunately, the rise of Twitter has sort of killed off the need for the chat room.

Me and FatterthanJoey used to go in there during blowouts and just shoot the breeze between the two of us. That guy was hilarious. I think he moved to Tennessee...his son is kind of stud baseball player I believe.

I'm so bad at remembering names. I remember avatars and almost associate them with all you! Like homer, I think of you sometimes as someone who looks a lot like T Plush! Ha. So don't change your avatars everyone!

I miss the super active times when the Brewers had all the young studs coming up. I found this site around that time. I can't remember names, but there were some great conversations. Great in game threads and and great chat rooms. I still really enjoy the site, but it's hard for me to now post during games or be on here all the time. It's still the first place I come to find Brewers news and still try to check it at least once a day or every other.

I bumped into Brian thirty minutes ago. I told him about this thread. He said he'd check it out.

I'm not a prolific poster but I've been visiting this site since around 2001-2002 and I'm still around reading what's posted here. Rluzinski and Al were always two of my favorite posters but there are/were many that had great perspectives. I visit Al's Ramblings pretty much every day for his Brewer insights as well as Disciples of Uecker (that's you, And That, right?). Last I knew Fatter than Joey was contributing to Brew Crew Ball but that was a few years ago now.

I'm glad to see discussion still active here. Some of the liveliest discussions came when the Brewers were still just fighting their way out of the cellar and into mediocrity; we all just were waiting for the Brewers to be relevant. I've been a Brewer fan since '87 (age 5) and always listened to Uecker since we were too far away to attend games often and didn't get them on TV. It was great to find this community to finally have a connection to other die-hard Brewer fans.

So here's what's been up with me...

I kinda dropped out of sight in 2009 as I was going through a pretty nasty divorce. Focused a lot of my time dealing with that. Then after that, kind of felt like I needed something new and challenging to work on. Felt like I took Brewerfan.net about as far as I could take it. Ended up DJing underground house music in my free time. Been doing that since 2009 and working my way "up the ranks", so to speak. Spinning different clubs around the midwest now (still mainly as a hobby, as it doesn't pay the bills). Working full time as a consultant, doing software engineering (actually working about 20 feet away from Robin19 [or whatever his username is now]). Keeping busy, having a good time.

Really impressed that Brewerfan.net is still doing its thing after almost 14 years now. It's a testament to the dedication of the staff, moderators, and you, the posters.

I would very much like to get back into the swing of things a little, at least to transition the full site to someone else so there's not "dead parts" of the site anymore. Time's kind of a precious commodity for me these days... but I haven't forgotten about everybody :)

Great to see you post again Brian. Since you left they made me a moderator. So guess things have gone downhill in your absence.
