Which Long-Dormant Brewerfan Poster Would You Like To See Chime In?

I had always wondered, what are the odds of someone here passing away and would anyone know about it? There have been a few higher-profile posters who have disappeared without notice ("Batman" comes to mind).

Batman is alive and (I hope) well. He follows me on Twitter and I see his online presence elsewhere, just not here.

I commented on this a while back:

I think SeriesFinale (Joel) has a family now that keeps him busy as I haven't seen him here in a while. I watched a Brewers game with him in San Francisco, and I also met him at a game in San Diego. I can't remember if we had known we would be at the San Diego game or just randomly ran into each other after the game.

As I mentioned in said above post, the other one I'd like to see back is EdgarDiazRocks.

Considering a number of us go back to the ESPN message board days we are getting close to 20 years of history... For example from the old FanFests my youngest Brewerfan is now a Freshman in college. I think the more impressive thing is that somehow this has all kept going over the years.

Rluzinski

The guy had strong opinions, but he always backed things up with strong arguments.

I think it crushed him that Weeks was done as an everyday player. Man he defended that guy like no one else and hanged onto the hope he would return to be a great player again.

The Princefielderxx1 who guaranteed world championships last season.

But seriously, what happened to a lot of these posters?

Is he the guy where the Brewers record was 89-1 (or something like that) in games he attended in person?

Fatter Than Joey

This. He posted frequently here, LambeauLeap.net as well as the political forum. He was a die-hard Steelers fan, and posted very frequently right up until the Packers beat the Steelers in Super Bowl XLV. I don't think I've seen a post from him since. He was a funny guy. His avatar was a picture of his son with those oversized "Hulk Hands" hulking out in front of Miller Park.

I've got a quote taken from a Bring Back the Stein post written on a note that hangs above my work desk:

"To be a Brewers fan has always been to suffer gloriously in an attitude of defiance... more purely and honestly than the ersatz posturing of Cubs fans".

I always thought that the Steins posts were some of the best pure prose you could find.

Yeah, what ever happened to Brian? Is that why the website is dead?

I've always wondered if posters disappeared or if they just changed names.

I think Brian did a lot of the technical stuff on the website, so yeah, I think that when he left it all sort of just died. Too bad he didn't hand it off to someone else. I don't know if there was an issue or anything that made him not do so. Never know.

LOL. Yes, that was the guy. I am hoping he still reads these boards and sees this thread and comes back. I enjoyed the bickering and bravado for some reason.

Not sure how much I can or even if I should say, but Brian had to step away for a while due to some pretty serious issues in his personal life. Not entirely sure, but maybe he lost his passion for this forum, maybe he found another calling that helped him deal with those issues better than this forum. Maybe he was sitting on a stack of "Yosted" t-shirts* and quit when the Brewers fired Ned. :)

People change as they get older, priorities change, life happens. You never know. As a Brewers fan, I started at the high point (around '79-80), lived though the collapse of the team in the 80's (still can't believe I stayed loyal after trading away Gorman Thomas), and survived the dark years of the late 90's and early 2000's. And then I moved to LA. And then the team started their resurgence. But I wasn't here to partake in it. Even with the internet, it was hard to get a feel for what was going on, and harder to get info on the young prospects coming up. This was my way of still being connected to the Brewers. And for that, BF.net will always be earmarked for part of my time (you'll notice that I haven't been very active the last 2 years except for December/January and summer - a full-time MBA program will do that). But that is certainly not the priority for everyone. I just hope that if anyone fades away, it is because priorities change and not because of physical changes. Although, I've heard that we all go sometime eventually.

(*They say you regret the things you didn't do more than the things you did do, and I definitely regret not purchasing one of those "Yosted" t-shirts.)

The site definitely has slowed down since a few years ago, but I don't think it's even close to dead. There is still a lot of good information coming from people like Maas Haas.

I think part of the reason theforum has slowed down is because it's not as an exciting time in Brewers baseball as when Prince, Weeks, Hart, Hardy etc., were coming through the minor leagues. People were super pumped about everything that was happening.

One of the poster's I miss hearing from is AndThat, I also miss having the Power 50 from him too.
