Personalized Uniforms

I'm personally a fan of the novelty/obscure player jersey. If another diehard sees you in a Hiram Burgos or Hernan Iribarren jersey, they know what's up.

aahaha,

i sport my (grey) Brad Nelson jersey with pride every now and then.

also got:

- mitch stetter (blue)

- doug davis (blue)

- felipe lopez (gold)

- manny parra (blue Milwaukee)

- carlos villanueva (white)

i like the "obscure" side of the force.

We should call him up and see what he's doing. Could be our lefty specialist.

I think the HOF gains the rights (after they sign off on it) of the players merchandice. It's not old players that are blocked, only the ones that made it to the hall. It causes a big problem if you want a personalized jersey and you share a name with one.

I don't think is 100% accurate. I tried to make a Cooper 15 jersey, a Thomas 20 jersey, a Jenkins 5 jersey and even a Sexson 11 jersey and none of them were approved. Just for grins I tried Favre 4 and they said Favre was a profane word. Absolutely weird system.

It makes sense more or less. The Brewers shouldn't be making money off of Cecil Cooper's name/popularity without giving Cooper some of the proceeds. That means the Brewers would have to reach out to all these individual players and individually negotiate licensing rights, which would be a huge pain and not worth their time.

If I ever got a jersey, it would be Yuni. That way I could wear it to games and easily identify my fellow bf.net members. Either that or SOLVVD. Come to think of it, that would be awesome.

If I ever spot a SOLVVD jersey, I will definitely shout out "WOAH!" or "Lou Palsmo!" This needs to happen.

I'm not a jersey wearer. I came of age before it was a thing, so I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing one unless I had a son on the team, which I don't and I don't.

That said, for those who do wear them, I think the more obscure, the better. If someone wants to wear a Yuni or a Rob Picciolo, or a Neugebauer, I think that's better than another guy in another Lucroy or Braun jersey.

The most memorable jersey I saw was a Brewers vs. White Sox game a few years ago at Miller Park and a White Sox fan was wearing a full retro uniform including tapered pants, stirrups and batting helmet. He was about 50 lb. overweight, too, which made the look all the more comical.

As for people who wear jerseys with their own name. . .I'm against that.

The only jersey I have with a player's name on it, matches my avatar - Kieschnick. My reasoning was that unlike Prince, Braun, Hart etc. he'd never go off and sign for someone else, or do something else unsavory. I thought I was the only one until I bumped into another 55 kieschnick in Steve's on Bluemound. For the life of me I can't find the pic I had taken, but if I do I'll post it!

I wouldnt spend $200 on a jersey with my own name on it, let alone one of a player on the team, I just dont see the point of spending that much money on a sports jersey of any sport. I buy my jerseys from China, $220 jersey for $40 with maybe a minor flaw? okay by me.

In my opinion, those Chinese jerseys are the worst. I bought a few back in the day - a Greinke road jersey and a couple Packer ones - and will never wear them again. They look so cheap compared to the authentic/replica ones that it's really easy to spot them in a crowd.

I've started moving away from wearing jerseys in general. I'd rather buy "team" gear that will never go out of date. As for personalized jerseys, I think they're pretty cheesy but to each their own. If you really want a jersey, I'd stick to either a retired player or a blank one.

Lots of good opinions here...Have to say that some of what has been discussed has changed my prerogative on some of the topics here. Oddly, I am more inclined to purchase ANY jersey. This includes Braun, a personalized one and a rare or obscure player. The purchase of a Braun jersey doesn't mean I condone PEDs as much as purchasing a personalized jersey mean I am a failed ballplayer. Nor would it feel like a waste of money to own a Burnitz 20 jersey. In the end, to me it boiled down to being a Brewer fan and having fun supporting the team by wearing a jersey rather than making a statement about the specific person whose jersey I was wearing.

I compared my three to other "official" MLB jerseys (also made in China, BTW), and they're identical other than loose strings that you can cut, and maybe some bleeding dye on the MLB patch down by the bottom/beltline of a jersey.

I don't have a Brewer's personalized jersey, but I do have one for the Packers. However, I am an owner. ;) But I did it before I was an owner also. Thought it was ridiculous to see people walking around with Chmura or Lofton jerseys after their "indiscretions".

Just for grins I tried Favre 4 and they said Favre was a profane word.

That is priceless! :laughing

I'm not sure what is so "funny" about people putting their own name on the back of a jersey. No, they weren't ever on a scorecard. But if they are a fan for 40 years, do they have any less identity with the team than a player that had a cup 'o coffee with the team 20 years ago?

By the way, if anyone had a Bucks jersey with "Alexander" that they would like to get rid of, I'm sure my son would enjoy it. :)

Something that just "is." Can't explain why it's funny, but think of it as seeing me mowing my lawn with shorts and dress socks on. Is that "wrong?" No, but people would snicker at me behind my back.

Hey, I have much bigger fish to fry in this world than personalized jerseys. Just understand lots of people will snicker at anyone wearing a personalized jersey. If that doesn't bother you, cool.

I liken it to how I used to drink PBR or Schiltz out in the parking lot before games. I would get a lot of crap, but I didn't care. Well...wouldn't you know now it's trendy.

I'd find it less lame to wear a past player's jersey than one's own name. If I were worried about the risk of the player leaving, I think I'd probably just get one without a name on the back.

Personally, I'm in the t-shirt club. Have probably tossed a half dozen over the years when the players leave. More practical to wear and less to replace with a new one. I've actually thought about using the logo on the front of old t-shirts to make a pillow or something, but never bothered.

Now, the next side track - what about the dudes who get the Alex Morgan men's jerseys? Weird to wear a female athlete's jersey, or acceptable if she's that hot?

I wouldn't want to hurt any of the current players feeling by wearing only one players jersey. Plus I wouldn't want any of our players going in a slump because of my jersey selection so I just wear Brewers t-shirts so I am supporting them all.

I can get a guy's jersey, but I can't wear one of a favorite female USAWNT player unless she's hot? Men or Women, you're supporting the team and rooting for the player. I don't see why there has to be a distinction.
