Netflix suggestions (TV Shows)

Bikeage77

We're just finishing up rewatching Breaking Bad and need some help deciding what to watch. For the most part, I'm all set on British TV even though Black Mirror is insanely good and have heard really good things about Peaky Blinders.

Any suggestions on what to watch next on Netflix? Thinking of Sons of Anarchy, unless there's a newer HBO or Showtime series we should look into?

Thanks.

If you haven't seen Arrested Development it's a must watch, assuming you want a comedy.

Since you're coming off BB and mentioned SOA you might be looking for a drama again. Besides the ones everyone will recommend (Wire, Sopranos, 24, etc.) I would recommend The Shield as number one. Hugely underrated and one of the earliest shows in TVs golden age of dramas that helped start this trend.

Peaky Blinders is the best thing I've seen on TV in a long time. I'm in love with it. Cillian Murphy is outstanding, Sam Neill is great... as is Tom Hardy. Awesome ensemble cast, with a gritty & interesting period-setting. I'm in withdrawal, as iirc it's only 12 episodes total over the two seasons, & the new season won't come out until Fall or so.

Another vote for Arrested Development. Just finished watching it myself.

Watched Marco Polo before that. Not perfect but pretty good. Quite the disparity on Rotten Tomatoes between 30% from critics and 93% audience. I'll side with the audience as well.

Arrested Development is awesome and I never got around to seeing the newest season. I wouldn't mind watching that entire series again.

Looking for a drama, but we tend to do both. (We've just started re watching 30 Rock, too)

Shield and SOA would be my picks then for older shows. Wife might not be a fan of the incredible amount of violence on SOA. Other current HBO pick would be Game of Thrones, definitely best show on TV right now. Tons of violence and sex type scenes that one would think would turn women off but it hasn't seemed to, seems everyone loves it regardless.

Also if you liked BB, which I'm sure you did like everyone else. I think the new Better Call Saul has started out very strong. It's not entirely clear how it will go for a multi year show but so far it's been very entertaining so far and looks it will be around awhile.

@TwoFisted, we loved the first two seasons of Homeland. Everyone who I talked to told us that season 3 was so bad its almost unwatchable. Obviously that didn't stop you.

The other show we've talked about starting up is Justified.

The plot did get a little crazy in season 3, I agree. It wasn't unwatchable in my opinion though. Another suggestion would be True Detective (HBO). First season was only 8 episodes long but it was great. Second season is coming out sometime this year but will have a whole new cast/story.

OP asked about Netflix specifically. Just an FYI, they don't have any HBO/ Showtime TV series, which eliminates many of the best. SoA would be a good choice. As someone said House of Cards for sure. My darkhorse is West Wing, which i will start watching once I'm done binge watching HoC season 3.

Have you ever watched West Wing? It is one of my all-time favorite shows. Seasons 1-4 are better, IMO, than the remainder, but it is a very solid show.

Yes, I watched it when it was on live, and re-watched the whole series a few years back. Excellent writing, casting...just a solid show.

There's a new season of trailer park boys coming to Netflix March 27th fyi. That's one of like 5 shows I use Netflix for.

Sweet. Another series that is short but good is Firefly. Sadly, it was cancelled after one season but had such a cult following they did the movie Serenity to satisfy Firefly fans. Both the series and movie are quite good. I have no idea why they axed it. Then again Family Guy was given the axe after three seasons once upon a a time as well. So the suits aren't infallible.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.
