Still too dumb and undisciplined (Gomez) and passive (Roenicke) [See mod note in post #160]

I can understand the thinking behind trying to steal there, but if you are going you have to know you will make it. I thought him getting thrown out was ridiculous. The staying in the dugout thing was just kinda uncomfortable.

That was just stupid by the umpire. From what was shown he never said a word to anyone nor looked at anyone as he walked off the field. Fine him, sure. But the ejection was totally uncalled for.

It reminds me a lot of the time Greinke got tossed for spiking the ball. In that case after the fact people didn't like it because he was mad at himself not the call. The Gomez one is a little trickier. The rule to my understanding is that you can't argue a reviewed call...I guess chucking your helmet isn't necessarily arguing so maybe it was ok in that sense. Though I think he can be ejected for throwing equipment so in the end it is still acceptable to eject him even though most umpires ignore that stuff unless directed at them.

I was more ticked they ejected him when he threw the helmet by the dugout. In the middle of the field I see the issue...but right by the dugout? I would have left it alone personally and let the game go on.

That wasn't even the stupidest ejection last night. You know how when a player strikes out to end the inning and they just flip their bat and helmet down for the ball boy to come and pick up along with shin guards, elbow guards, batting gloves and whatever else they have on?

Well Mike Napoli did that last night, except when he flipped his helmet off, it bounced off home plate and took a weird bounce and went backwards and hit the umpire in the leg. The umpire saw the whole thing happen, the fact that Napoli was pissed that he took strike 3, the fact that it took a weird bounce off home plate and the fact the ump had plenty of time to avoid the helmet but instead just watched it. He ended up ejecting Napoli because of it.

Didn't Rock say he threw his helmet twice (one off camera at 2B too)???? There is frustration actions (Greinke) and then there is contempt or showing up the umps/calls. Glad he was thrown out of game for his actions. ..... He should have been thrown out just for his stupidity on the bases......

Again, does anyone know about the signs??? Is this an unsolvable problem? Was there a stop sign on Gomez to NOT steal??? If not, why don't we have one by now. He surely needs to be told when to steal because he clearly has less clue than 90% of the people on my co-ed softball team.

Shame on the whole organization, including teammates, for not protecting this guy from himself better and letting him selfishly drag down the team with his needless risks. Someone, actually multiple people, should get in his face and call his decisions and actions out and see if that helps. (Ps... In March At Maryvale practice, I told him to have a 30-30 year this season and to play smart. I obviously have little influence.)

Prince is gone and I don't see anyone on this team who has the kind of personality to do such a thing. Lohse maybe.

I'd think that Lucroy has the ilk with the team to sit Carlos down and let him know that his actions were childish and hurt the teams chances (albeit slim) to win that game.

Gomez could've easily laughed at Lucroy considering Lucroy grounded into a DP with runners on 1st and 2nd in the game. That's what I would've done.

Based on my own observations, I don't think Lucroy is a very vocal leader. He rarely shows any kind of emotion and his tone in interviews is pretty blah and generally disinterested. I know this notion of "clubhouse leaders" making a difference is pretty much poo-pooed by everybody (including me) but I haven't seen any sort of real leader on this team since Prince left and I think that has hurt.

Loved it when Prince got in Manny Parra's face during dugout altercation (for leaving dugout early and not watching the rest of the inning in which he was pitching). Need more of that, Brewers.
