Well not to ruin the suspense for you, but here (LINK) is a sneak peak of where and what amount guys are expected to sign for tomorrow.

I'm counting like 30.5mil on the Dodgers signings if all true.....They just traded one of their slots to Toronto for I don't know what. But yeah You have about 3mil to spend...nah we'll trade some 100ks only have 2mil to spend....And still spend 30+mil. Wow such a joke and again Milw isn't trading their slots to this moment. Spend in 2016 Team trade everything you have in 2015. GM can't pull the trigger! So afraid to look bad in the outcome apparently.

In addition to the sale to the Blue Jays, the Dodgers also just sold another international bonus pool slot to the Braves for two prospects in return. They absolutely could not care any less about the system or the tax penalties. Andrew Friedman is a Sabermetric Honey Badger.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

$2mil+ is a lot of money for a 16 year old....

That's not even remotely close to what I said. The Brewers have only handed out 1 bonus that big in their entire history and that was last season to Gilbert Lara.

It's a complex process and a huge gamble. You don't just spend money because you can. You have to be smart.

Once again overstated, diving into the international market is a necessary risk, the Brewers aren't able to compete in FA so they have to expand the talent base they draw from. As I posted earlier 500k is in that 3rd-4th round pick range, it's money better spent than $10 mil/year for Suppan, Wolf, Garza, and Lohse... those guys have sure put the Brewers over the top.

It is probably not even remotely close to what you said because it wasn't even directed at you.

And yes the international market is a good investment. But spending $2mil because you can on a guy your scouts aren't high on isn't a smart move. If they love the guy sure it makes sense...that is if he doesn't prefer another team. I'm sure a lot of these guys have 10 teams interested in them, but just prefer one team over the rest.

The Brewers have shown a lot of interest I'm the international market in recent years. I am sure they have a plan. I know they had interest in a couple of the top prospects coming in, but I guess that just didn't work out. Sadly they went to teams that decided to spend wildly this year.

This is just another way for rich teams to get top talent. They've got free agency, the draft, and international free agency. Thank goodness those teams at least let Doug get a slightly above average player off the waiver wire every now and then.

The limits are a bit of a joke too. Big markets just take turns stock piling. Unless the Brewers want to gamble $20mil and lose 2 years of signing they have a hard time getting any top prospect.

Can they sell off a bonus slot when they've already exceeded the allotments when they sign a player?

I'm thinking, I wish they traded all of it and had $0 and embarrassed the League because they sign 30+mil~61mil after taxes.

But alas, I'm in the fairly confident 5mil of that will go in to the added research/advertising and such MLB claims and 26mil ends up in the Commish's and his team pockets as hush money.

Do you guys know if 2016 is more of the Brewers year to make a big splash in the international market? It seems like a few teams overloaded in 2015 and may be overspent in 2016. Is that an opportunity for the Brewers in 2016? We've signed a few guys now the past few years but I'd like to see a higher volume, right?

No. There will be some other team that will look to go bonkers and blow away their spending limits.

But you're looking at what? 9teams that can't spend over 300k? Leaving just 21 that can. (my guess maybe its 7 or 8 or 10 for that matter) That's less bidding to go around on these top international prospects. If there's going to be a time to do it, 2016 would be it considering where the team may stand in overall payroll, can take the brunt of the penalties. I mean if 500k is are best signing this period, then what's the point trying to avoid being limited to 300k? Team should go out spend 15-21million nab 5-6 top notch prospects the 10mil or so in penalties like I said would just get absorbed by the team's 60ish mil payroll to be 70s-ish? Lara's production should be proof the need to. You then really spend your next 2years scouting for 2019 and locking up deals for them in 2018 just awaiting to be announced.
