Thanks again for the answers!

Speaking of the Diamondbacks...

This one happened last week, but I thought it was ridiculous. Jose Fernandez clearly accidentally hit David Peralta in the head. His reaction says it all, and there's no prior history there as far as I know. Anyway, as their guy lays on the ground injured, and Fernandez looks on concerned, the D-Backs dugout (I guess, especially the manager) start barking at the home plate umpire to toss Fernandez. The umpire pretty much tells them to shut up ("If I want to eject him, I will. Don't tell me what to do.") and ejected the D-backs manager.

Next half inning and Dominic Leone throws a pretty obvious retaliation pitch and is thrown out as well. Retaliating for what, I'm not sure. I know you have to protect your guys, but do they honestly think Fernandez would intentionally try and hit someone in the head? The whole thing is ridiculous, compounded by the completely awful announcing by the D-backs guys, while the Marlins announcers seem completely perplexed at what has occurred.

Man, it is strange seeing Gomez is orange! Hoping for all our recently traded players to do well. I liked them all, except Broxton, but that was more performance based than anything else.

Unfortunately, Carlos had a bit of a rough go of it in his debut with Houston. He was 0-5, and misplayed a ball in the 6th that lead to two runs. It was called a double, but Carlos flat overran it, then couldn't reach back far enough and keep it in the glove. Houston lost in extras to Arizona, 6-4.

Here's the 'double': http://m.mlb.com/video/v317199583/arihou-gomez-misplays-fly-ball-into-double

And here's a video of Gerardo Parra introducing himself to his new teammates.: http://m.mlb.com/video/v316143483/detbal-parra-introduces-himself-to-new-teammates

Fun fact: LaTroy Hawkins became just the 13th player in MLB history to record a save against all 30 teams. I'm actually a bit surprised that it's been done that many times, but congrats to LaTroy! Always been a fan, and he's still rollin' at 42 with a 3.08 ERA. He'll be retiring after this season.

The others to achieve the feat are: Rick Aguilera, Armando Benitez, Brian Fuentes, Kevin Gregg, Jason Isringhausen, Jose Mesa, Jonathan Papelbon, Rafael Soriano, Huston Street, Ugueth Urbina, Jose Valverde, and Bob Wickman.

I saw him start a AAA game back in 1993. Back when I was young and single. Man, that was a long time ago.

I actually even remember him even earlier... pitching for Fort Wayne (I think) in A ball for the Twins and seeing them play in Beloit. I even remember getting his autograph before the game. I was in grade school at the time. Man, time flies.

Cardinals have 11 pitchers who have ERAs of under 3.00 (minimum of 20 IP).

They have four other guys between 3.10 and 3.91 ERAs.

They have one guy with a 5.02 ERA.

Carlos Villanueva has an era of 1.51.

That's pretty amazing.

Their pact with the devil has to be up soon right?

So apparently Anthony Witrado has a weekly segment on WSSP. He's as dumb as ever. In the first couple of minutes he said the Brewers would love someone to take Khris Davis off their hands. Now Davis is obviously a flawed player, but he's cheap and he can hit for power and draw walks. That's not a player the Brewers would love to have a team take off their hands.

Then he went on to say the Pirates starting rotation isn't good. Now it's been hurt with Burnett being out but Cole and Liriano are a really good 1-2 punch and if Burnett can come back and pitch like he has before he was pitching hurt, their 1-2-3 can go up against anybody's.

All sports talk on radio or TV is terrible. Especially when it comes to baseball.

Hisashi Iwakuma just threw a no hitter against the Orioles. The player to make the final out? Gerardo Parra, who has been horrible since he was traded.

He's been bad for the Orioles so far. Glad we traded him when we did. He was never going to keep up that kind of production.

I am not a fan of the Pirates rotation in a playoff setting. Cole is great but Liriano tends to break down late in the season and Burnett is erratic these days. They have pitched above their heads this season most likely and it is not a strength for them imo. The rotation had a sub 3 era through June and now it is closer to 4 for the season.

Three year factors are done somewhat more commonly for analyzing trends, but check out the HR part of the park factor this year a 1.7! Only one other year has a team had a higher factor in the last 15 years and that was Progressive Field in 2001 when they actually posted a little over a 2. The only 2 other years a team finished 1.6 or higher was Colorado once and Miller park once otherwise most years the highest in the league is in the 1.3-1.4 range.

The danger of small samples is one good weekend can change things in a hurry. Now hitting a healthy 295/348/492 for Baltimore and local sports guys asking that he get extended.

Well, I guess he showed me then! I'm glad he is playing well for them, in all honesty. Liked him for the time he was here, but trading him was still the right move.
