Yes he sure was ugly. I love this event, it's so great for the game! I wonder if having just one event like this is good, and gives the fans some excitement, or if more events should be like this. I'd worry the novelty would wear off, but I do think it would attract a lot of new fans. Less of a gentleman's game and more of a football atmosphere. I'd really have to think about that.

I agree. Kinda like Thursday Night Football, once in a while (ie Thanksgiving) is great. When it gets to every week it gets played out and ultimately dilutes the excitement. If the stadium course should be imported someplace else, I would say the US Open. Also think it would be fun to bring back Match Play to the PGA Championship to differentiate itself from the other Majors.

PS: Tiger now is DFL and losing to a local PGA Pro .

I watched the PGA Tour App while I worked yesterday which was stationed at #10 at Riviera.

It's really amusing watching pros struggle with a clever little hole like that; given the drought in California everything seems to be rolling ridiculously fast. The pin placement was so tight yesterday between the two bunkers that most were just driving for the green as laying up would leave a really tricky wedge shot. I think I maybe saw one player hold the green on the drive.

Well Golf is my sport, but I work the most during the weekends/ie golf tournaments, so I don't follow it all to much, especially since Steve Stricker has moved to part time. My focus has been more with baseball. Anyway, being late here, I did see these Tiger yips in his short game. Terrible, I mean absolutely terrible. I would think 0 professional golfers on the PGA or the Webb.com tour would have a disability to hit short games shots that terrible more than once in a round. The fact that he's done it multiple times in the same round this season? He doesn't belong playing professional golf right now, it's like an 85 year old who still has a license, he doesn't deserve it until he's passed the drivers test yearly. Tiger should have to go through the PGA Qualifying school it's that bad. He's lost it, and doesn't deserve taken up a spot in a tourney over somebody young and new who deserves a chance.

He did the right thing to step away from PGA competition until his game was worthy of playing tournaments. It's one thing to lose your driving ability one season(like Stricker after changing products back in the day) but to lose your ability in the short game, when the wedges you are going to be using are practically identical one product to the next with all your choices is something all its own. As some one said in golf, it's between his ears, and I see no chance he will win another Major considering the boom he brought to the golf game. Guys like Rory McIllroy and Jordan Spieth, are just far better competition than what it was 15years ago. He has to get back to the TOP of his game to compete with them, not play 1 shot worse than he was previously but being he was so good than 2nd best that would still give him winning ability.

As to my own golf game, I decided to upgrade my driver as I just no longer could get off the tee with my old one. It's one of those Wrench Adjustables Ti-913D2 drivers that I want to set up a little open and upright to try improving my driving. Previously had a Nike Dymo that I just began hooking beyond control and felt I was swinging way to round with because it set up low. I'm one of thee best putting from 35feet and less, 7feet away and I think I'm only 2feet away, putts are just so easy. Wedge game is nice and my previously terrible bunker game, I think is coming around having maybe figured out the setup and soft hands swing while taking more sand. I was actually attempting putting from out of the bunkers early in 2014 season, I was so terrible in sand. It's crazy how much one can improve when they reach a changed setup/swing thought.

I do miss golf watching and rooting for Stricker, I wish Mike Van Sickle former Marquette All-American golfer would get himself going and playing on the PGA tour to root for. No Kelly or Kendall I'm getting to the point I may be rooting for Spieth to follow. I love rooting for Americans, but I would rather root for Wisconsians like Matt Kenseth in Nascar. With Stricker barely playing, I just don't follow golf like I did 2 years ago.

Throw that use mess driver in the pond like Rory did today and get an RBZ or stage 2 for cheap.

I've never hit driver well, one might call it embarassing (and have had many...I demoted myself to a wooden one last summer as punishment), but I picked up this RBZ and man...bombs away. Even the Stage 2 15* 3-wood I have is a pretty easy 280, can touch 295 if I rip it. Took the 5-wood right out of the bag.

I've witnessed the RBZ Dddwas just jumping off the face. I would highly recommend the 3wood RBZ but not the driver. It also has to do with look of the club, I don't like white or their new white with design on top of clubhead from TaylorMade's. Rory threw his 3iron in pond today btw not driver. Titleist has been fairly consistent over the years with their drivers and bounce/spring effects, just the club head shapes for the most part weren't. The 913D2 harkens back to more traditional shape. Taylormade's best Drider I've seen was the R7 SuperQuad or the R510-580 series drivers. The spring from those clubheads was immense. I was looking for an R7 only I found this 913D2 for a super price on Ebay. Figure I can play with it for a season and sell for 85% of what I paid for it if it doesn't work out.

Yeah, the plus side to Titleist (and Ping which I play) is the trade-in value maintains itself, TMAG not so much at all. I got mine for $40 though with no sky marks or dings so just fine with me lol.

I'm still playing my Ping i20 from about 3-4 years ago. I haven't found a better driver or fairway wood in terms of look, feel, distance, and launch. I was tempted by a Titleist driver last year, but it still just doesn't consistently beat the Ping driver.

I love my Taylor Made MB blades from about 3-4 years ago as well. Although I really should have gotten the 6.5 Rifles rather than the 6.0's. I have 6.5s on an old set of blades and like them. I did make a change last summer and got some new Vokey wedges.

Yes, the I20 was a rare Ping driver that worked well. I15s were a step in the right direction, I20s exceeded it, but then like Titleist, Ping came out with newer drivers trying to improve on the I20s and went backwards. Haven't seen a Ping driver past the I20s that was better.

As to Titleist Blades, if you're hitting a Titleist blade, you're atop of your golf game. I don't think any irons are better than any blade iron by Titleist, if you're swinging fast enough and with very good contact of sweet spots. I'm jealous of anyone that can hit them, seriously, I hear 200yards to the flag and these players are contemplating 6iron or 5iron. 6iron 200yards!

I just started playing again about six months ago (I played a lot until I was 15, then played maybe fifteen rounds in ten years). I upgraded my ~25 year old Ping Zing knockoffs to a pretty much unused set of Mizuno MX-300's I found on ebay for $180 and I love them, great combination of workability with some forgiveness. I've put together a pretty solid bargain-bin set as those irons came 4 - GW with a (nearly unused) Mizuno MP-10 sand wedge, and I picked up a Tour Edge Exotics CB4 3-wood for about $20 bucks and I'm still gaming my old Rossie II putter.

I drove the hour down to Dormie Club yesterday. That's a great track by Coore & Crenshaw if you're ever in the Southern Pines/Pinehurst area, and you can play it from about November to early March for $70 (it's $200 in the peak-season). Huge fairways with lots of undulation introduce a lot of interesting playing angles and there are a few really fun ~300 yard par fours which are drive-able but punishing around the green. Like Pinehurst #2, there is no Bermuda rough, and the waste areas are actually really fun to play out of as they introduce tough but playable lies that offer different recovery options just about every time.

BrewCrewDude80, my last 3 drivers have been Ping. Nothing has beat them in terms of distance or accuracy (except the next model I bought). G2, G5, i20.

Can't wait to golf this week!

Very Hard to believe a G2 or G5 provided you with more distance than the majority of what the Market offered. I get each driver was better, because they were from the previous model. Like I said, Stick with the I20 Driver it's the best Ping has to offer thus far. I'm annoyed I cant try out this Titleist right now as I've self diagnosed myself as having Plantar Facilitis in my right foot. Happened Saturday, trying out some stuff found at pharmacy to see if it heals shortly. Fairly painful to put weight on, just crazy, did nothing out of the ordinary just popped up out of nowhere.

In Milwaukee for the weekend. What's a decent tract to play at moderate cost?

Go to Washington County golf course. To work at Whistling Straits/Blackwolf Run, and have coworkers go there and say they love the course is hard to do. There's a reason is the #1 Muni course in the State.

I've been dealing with PF for almost 20 years. Go 1/2 size up on your golf shoes (unless you have a good amount of room in them) and put a pair of these in them:

They have these at New Balance stores and similar ones at Road Runner Sports if either of those are near you if you want to try them on first.

Watching the Masters and Woods just hit a tree root or something while hitting his 2nd shot on the 9th hole. If I heard correctly, I believe Faldo reacted with a "Jesus!". If that is what he said, it will be interesting if Augusta imposes any sanctions on him..or even bans him (like they did Gary McCord for referring to their greens as being "bikini waxed")

Most of my golf shots are either rug burners or severe slices. Is there something wrong with my swing?

It's All in the Hips...

No seriously, sounds like you're pulling your head up(which brings up your shoulders) too soon. Slices too can be a result. But likely your swing is wrong.

Well, I haven't been working for near a month now so my PF has gone away. Something to look at/consider. I found a boot that keeps my foot/toes more in a 90degree position to my leg. Kinda like stretching out the bottom of the foot. I have been sleeping oddly where I'm pointing my foot downward/flexing my calf some and I want to say my toes were kinda crunched up/curled to not stretch out the bottom of my foot at all.

It's definitely had a good impact because I had woken up with the onset of a calf cramp previously with the flexing of it while sleeping. Not going to happen with the boot. Got it from Walgreens don't know the exact price anymore. Maybe something to look in to if any of it might apply to your sleeping habits, your foot position while asleep.

I'll definitely look in to the Insole. I've been wearing them for years when working some really help some don't help at all. the Dr Scholls $50 insoles have worked the best for me(the one you test yourself for) but if I'm experiencing PF I can't say it did any help.

The Players championship had such a great finish yesterday. Too bad it had to be marred by this ugliness.

http://www.sbnation.com/golf/2015/5/11/8584877/sergio-garcia-hecklers-taunting-players-championship-2015-tpc-sawgrass

The apparent insensitivity displayed by the announcers and fans is concerning enough, but I'm just getting annoyed overall with some of the obnoxious "golf fans" that you hear more and more at some of these tournaments. I can't understand for the life of me why there is this need for some to be heard. Why they get such a kick out of trying to time yelling something like "Baba Booey!!" as soon as the golf ball is struck (and many times don't time it well at all). Do they think that's funny? Do the other d-bag buddies that they are attending the tourney with laugh hysterically at this? I'm guessing these are the same cigar smoking morons that you can here laughing and yelling 3 holes away when you are golfing at your local course. "Hey everyone, look at me! Hear me! It's all about me!".

The 16th hole at the Waste Management tourney is one thing. It's expected there and the golfers know what they are getting into, but this desire to turn every sport into a pro wrestling event is getting on my nerves.

Well the US Open was entertaining.....but I still don't know what to think of the crazy greens. I think it's a beautiful course but maybe was needed a few more years to mature. What a great finish and had 4 watching all four days. I guess that's all I ever ask for.
