Brewers On Deck 2015

Love the Barrelman but come on...pick a logo/era and stick to it. It's like this team has some kind of an identity crisis. Players love the M with barley. Fans love the ball and glove. Now we have the 70s era M, which is solid, but man I wish we could somehow streamline all of this eras and stick with one and make it timeless.

Bring back the powder blue, it's iconic! Navy/gold is boring.

Having lived through the powder blue era, when a large chunk of all teams had it, I hope it never returns. Love the classic ball/glove logo but not more than the current logo/colors/unis/etc., which I think are the Brewers' best ever.

Both Henderson and Thornburg said they'll be ready to go for spring training. Both seem ahead of the curve. Very good news.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Let's use this thread to post any news, feedback, etc. from today's On Deck fan event.

First up, here's the Brewers newest mascot, since they didn't have enough quite yet:

Not sure if that's Hank or some random furry that happens to be a baseball fan. Kinda hoping it's a furry because that wouldn't be as dumb.

Hate to tell you, but I'm pretty sure that is the official Hank mascot. Not sure why they need that along with the real Hank (who apparently got huge lines of fans today), but there you go.

Mascot Hank is here to be the official Hank after the inevitable happens, and the real Hank dies... It is going to happen at some point down the road, and when it does, never fear, the mascot will live on...

I think the entire Hank thing is so disgustingly overdone. Too many bobbles, t-shirts, and everything else you can strap his face/name on just made it get old quickly. I like the Barrel Man and Bernie, but I'm not a fan of Hank becoming a permanent fixture, and it seems as if he has done just that.

McCalvy tweets that Mark A. expects another signing before the season. I wonder how much of that is to fulfill the expectations of the average fan. I wonder what percentage of fans couldn't care less about budgets or prospects and just want the team to sign as many big names as possible.

Most percent.

haven't been to the event since the 1st event at the convention center before today and i feel that the event has improved greatly since the first time they have tried it.

Autograph lines was much more organized, while having a lottery means many fans get shut out, it is the most fair way to do it. Seems like the photo area was much better organized as well.

having the game show and the panel discussions adds much more for the older fans who are less concerned with getting autographs and pictures (like me) to do.

overall a very good experience and I'd go back next season.

The greatest change from year one in the convention hall to year two was using the whole hall. They used half of it the first year, so it was mighty cramped.

Can anything be read into who they invite? I know some guys are still in Winter league ball. I just listened on and off on TMJ and glanced through JS coverage, but hearing Logan Schafer made me wonder if Gerardo Parra was there and I haven't seen anything that mentioned Rogers and Clark.

Is it a mistake to read that as the team's pre ST expectation is that Schafer makes the team and Clark and Rogers likely start in AAA?

Barring a trade or a signing I think all indications are that the opening day bench will be Parra, Schafer, Jimenez, Hector Gomez, and Maldonado. It often comes down to keeping the guys out of options over the guys who still have them. I would expect them to get Clark a lot of work in the OF in AAA and Rogers a lot more work at 3B. A few of the guys optioned out might actually be 2nd on the depth chart if an injury occurs to a regular though.

Yeah, Hector Gomez was there. I don't know how to post a picture from twitter but he was definitely bringing some style to the event. I'm hoping that his big smile was because he was feeling healthy and not the girl he was talking to.
