Too bad such a great player/man had to play for an inept organization. He should have tasted the playoffs at least once. RIP.

Won the MVP two years in a row on teams that won 72 and 74 games respectively (while guys like Aaron and Mantle were still in their prime)

Plenty of players with better stats than Ernie Banks (arguably Robin Yount had a better career), but his enthusiasm for the game makes him one of the greatest of all time. Banks, Aaron, Mays, wish I had a time machine back to that era of baseball!

It would be neat to see the Cubs hold a service between two games of a (newly scheduled) Cubs-Cardinals double header at Wrigley.

I really with MLB brought back scheduled double headers, maybe just one home scheduled double header for each team in a year. Sell it as an excuse to take a day off, play at 12:00 and 3:30; not sure how many fans there are like me but I'd happily pay 2.5x the price of a regular ticket to avoid having to get to the stadium twice.

Um, what?

I'll give the attorney the benefit of the doubt and guess that he/she thinks massive heart attack is considered "unforeseen". Otherwise....weird.

They inept for a good portion of his career, I give you that, but Ernie did play on soon playoff quality teams late in his career. Unfortunately too little, too late.

Ernie Banks was an amazing player, but an even greater baseball ambassador.....fake, frat-boy Cub fans have caused me to loathe the Cubs but Banks is perhaps my favorite non-Brewer player that I never saw play live

You hate the Cubs because of a portion of the fans are obnoxious jerks? Not logically, because that would mean you would hate every team in MLB because every teams has those fans.

RIP Mr. Cub, go play two with #10.

Ernie Banks is one of the finest men to ever step on a Major League field. He embodied everything good about the game, and everything gentlemanly about professional sports. I already miss him.

Opening Day at Wrigley Field won't ever be the same again.

There are three things America will be known for 2000 years from now when they study this civilization: the Constitution, jazz music and baseball. They're the three most beautifully designed things this culture has ever produced. Gerald Early
