Paul Molitor signing in Milwaukee area on 1/31

chadomac

I've had a baseball I got at the Hall of Fame that I eventually wanted to get signed by Paul Molitor and Ryan Braun. That was awhile ago. Now I just want Paul to sign it. Has anyone gone to the Legends of the Field public signings before? Did you have a good experience?

I assume I will pay my fee and be quickly herded through a line like cattle. I never thought I'd pay for an autograph, but I'm considering it. Not sure he'll be out signing at Twins/Brewers games this coming year, but I guess it's possible. Do Hall of Famers do that when they know they can get a good chunk of change for their sig?

Ive had experiences where a high caliber player would grab the ball you want signed and not sign it on the sweet spot when trying to get them at games. If you're picky about that, which I assume you would be with a HoF ball, legends of the field might be a good idea.

I've been to a few Legends of the Field signings before, and its a decent place for a signing. Yes, you will be herded through like cattle.

Molitor has always been a gracious signer to the fans, but now he is a manager. He will not have the time to sign autographs at a game like he did in the past. Some Hall of Famers are really good at signing, and some are not. Molitor has always been really good.

in 88 my dad mailed a baseball with a letter to bud's office in Milwaukee requesting an autograph for "one of Molitors biggest fans". I got the ball for xmas that year, it sits on my mantle and says "to michael, best wishes, paul molitor".

I worked with someone who was a nanny for Pirates and Penguins players in the late 80s/early 90's, and she had stories about boxes and boxes of autographed baseballs that certain Pirates players had signed for him by other people that were mailed out.

I have never believed my Molly ball to not be authentic, but I definitely think of that story from my past coworker every time I see an autographed ball online or in a shop.

So, as expected after reading previous BF.net posts about The Igniter... he was a super nice guy and it was a great experience. I don't believe in paying for autographs but I made an exception for the favorite Brewer of my youth... and I'd probably go again to get something else signed next time. Legends of the Field did a nice job. I got there at about 11:40 and the line was just starting to spill out the door. It started promptly and we were out of there by 12:30 at the latest.
