Season ticket sales up 20% for 2015

Invader3K

Brewers announced this yesterday. To clairfy, it's 20% more than this same point last year.

As hawing pointed out on Twitter last night, it's probably due to many people rolling their 2014 post-season ticket deposits into a season ticket plan. Still, it's good news for the Brewers from a business perspective.

"probably due to many people rolling their 2014 post-season ticket deposits into a season ticket plan."

And therefore it's not indicative of any greater interest in the team. They probably put that out there to try and convince fans that they don't want to be left out because interest is so high. It's kind of misleading. I don't sense there's a lot of buzz and anticipation for this season other than the normal appeal of baseball in these parts ie. the hope springs eternal stuff and the thought of warm summer weather and baseball.

Well the Brewers are kind of an afterthought right now with the Packers success. I am certainly not in baseball excitement mode yet. 20% over the same day last year can't be anything but a good thing though. There probably won't be anything between now and opening day that would really get people knocking down the door for season tickets; so the press release is aimed to generate a sense of urgency in some holdouts I imagine.

I think the Brewer brass has convinced themselves that the collapse down the stretch was an anomaly. Why else would they throw money at Ramirez and essentially stand pat everywhere else save the one deal for Lind? I think they are using this uptick in season ticket sales, real or not, to reinforce what they already believe. I believe some aspects of the collapse were indeed real and haven't been addressed and that portends problems in 2015.

Rather than pat themselves on the back for their salesmanship, how about investing in some arms in the bullpen to replace Duke and K-Rod or find a quality RH bat to platoon at 1B?

Even if we were to win 50 games, I'd still hope fans would come out for the games. Maybe that's unrealistic, but I'd hope we'd support the team no matter what.

That being said, I'm hoping this team can add a couple of hidden gems still and then stay healthy to compete in 2015.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Saw a good point online. Season ticket holders will choose to renew coming off a season when their tickets maintain face value through most (or all) of the year. With the hot start last year and the five-month 1st place stint, those August and September games could still be sold or used without taking a loss.
