I'm wondering if anyone recognizes this ceiling fan and knows what brand it is. Came with the house, but the old owners didn't see fit to leave the remote. (Assuming there is a remote, as there is nothing to pull to increase/decrease fan speed.)

I'd be a much bigger fan of church festivals and summer outdoor festivals in general if they had mixed drink options. Not a big beer drinker.

I've been debating a next investment in a couple good-quality knives and a couple good saucepans. A sharpening whetstone, too. I like to cook and I'm currently using $10 items. Half my pots and pans were garnered from a garbage can. Who throws away unused pots and pans?

Although I don't have any real complaints with the stuff I have now. My knives cut and my pans heat up just fine.

I was thinking a Wusthof 8.5" knife and one of those Japanese vegetable knives. Then one general saucepan. It's shorter than it should be, but I already have one cast-iron stew pot.

A Rod doing pregame interviews for the all-star game tonight...I got a somewhat unsettled feeling watching him grin and walk around the infield and inject reminders about his playing days. Not exactly creepy but certainly odd.

Do other states do the "thank you wave" when you let a car in on the highway or stop for someone at a crosswalk?

I'd say others do, but it's not mandatory like it is in WI :)

I joked the other day that I'm worried I might be known as the jerk in my new neighborhood in WI (just moved back after being gone for about 10 years). I keep forgetting that I need to wave at all passing cars in the neighborhood!

I finally decided that I wish to know what the Brewers' home run celebration (the overhead clap thing) is about. Surely one of you can enlighten me?

You see, what happens, is that when one of the guys hits a ball that is a home run, the other guys clap over their head to celebrate.

(Random, maybe not, pointless and unhelpful, absolutely)

Kato Kaelin won the 50/50 Brewer raffle earlier in the month? Was watching some program about O.J. Simpson last night and they mentioned that. My wife said, "Yeah, you didn't know that?!"

How did I not hear about this? I did a search on "Kato" on the Fan Forum and it returned no results, so does not appear that it was ever brought up on Brewerfan either.

Have I ever mentioned the extent to which I hate the Ho-Chunk casino ad with the 60-plus year old couple talking about winning a 1950s car, flashing back to their twenties (which would be 40+ years ago...so 1970s), in a casino that was only built in the early '90s (Wis. Dells)?

Or the fact that the 2017 version of the couple bears no actual resemblance to their 50s/70s/90s counterparts?

"Let's go back..." and re-think this entire 30-second spot.

The commercial is so full of historical anachronisms it's not even funny. The flashback makes it feel like the 50's with the music, car, and extras. But the woman is pretty clearly dressed like a punk from the 70's.

[sarcasm]OBVIOUSLY it's designed to appeal to every gaming-eligible age group.[/sarcasm] :rolleyes

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

And her "Let's go back" sounds so naughty. Like she's trying to lure him to something purely hedonistic and he's unable to escape the svengali mojo she's working on him.

And the stupidity to assume that a couple who won a car at a casino would never again return to the casino until they are reminiscing about having won the car there. Don't you think, having won big, they might become more regular customers than once in their 20s and then only once again in their 60s?

It's an outrage!!

 • 2 weeks later...
So, was at the game last night and after the National Anthem, Arcia stood in the same position with his hat on his heart for an additional 2-3 minutes (maybe it just seemed that long...maybe it was only a minute). Other Brewers just continued to do sprints and stretches and didn't pay any attention to him doing this. Then we noticed that there were about 4 or 5 Reds players doing the same thing in front of the Reds dugout (standing there, looking at the flag, with their hat rested on their chest as if the anthem was still playing). Then we noticed Arcia and those Reds players gesturing back and forth across the diamond at each other. Anyone else see this or know what this was about? Don't know if it was some inside joke between the players or "contest" to see who would stand there the longest before finally getting ready for the game or if they were attempting to make a statement of some sort.

Happens occasionally. Usually in college games. It's a competition to see who can stay in the same spot the longest. I think it's dumb as hell but whatever floats your boat I guess.

The Brewers are giving away a Bernie Brewer "Game of Thrones" bobblehead at an upcoming game. What a strange cross promotion...I do watch the show, but it's not remotely family friendly. I think these MLB/mainstream pop culture cross promotions have kind of jumped the shark.

As someone who was at "Hello Kitty Night" a couple weeks ago, I completely agree.

Not even close to jumping the shark. I'm neither a fan of GoT or Hello Kitty. But for all those who are, it's a good way to attract casual Brewer fans, or even people who aren't fans at all. These give-away days are still huge.

I saw a buch of teenagers playing Ultimate frisbee across the street from my house yesterday. I went over to say how fun it was to watch and that I played some the 80's and have spent the last 14 years throwing a couple hours a day every day with my dog. They asked if I wanted to play so I figured why not? Got to say it was the most fun I've had in a long time. Problem is, I don't think I will be able to move for a week.
There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.
