naive questions because I never played OOTP before, but I didnt know you could get it for MACs so I am thinking about buying it. Is this a game where you play against the computer or do you set up leagues over the internet and compete with your friends. Is this game use real major leaguers or is it a fantasy league with made up players...thanks

You can do both.

It ships with a fantasy league with made-up players, but the more common use is to download rosters that are released shortly after the game from third parties (free of charge) that contain the real players and minor leaguers.

I could read the thing, but I'd rather ask people who play it.......

what's the learning curve on this beast?

I really dig baseball statistical sims (I've done 11 seasons of MVP '05 on coaches mode), but I don't want something that's going to overwhelm.

It looks great, but has anyone figured out how to locate, download and utilize actual MLB data (team, players, stats, etc.)? Looks pretty good with creating fictional players, but would be that much better if I could figure out how to import real life info.

Thank you!

FYI -

I havent had time or the money to look into OOTP 2006, but I purchased OOTP5, OOTP6 and OOTP6.5 and have enjoyed them all a lot. Coming from someone who knows little about downloading, installing, unzipping, etc. locating the real player sets along with correct stadiums and player pics was easy for OOTP5-6.5. Also, the learning curve for the earlier OOTP games was very short. While Ive heard that OOTP 2006 is almost too detailed and can be confusing, I would think that you'd be able to pick it up and figure out what you were doing in about an afternoon or evening. Give it a try, its loads of fun.
