Masterson to Boston

They now have too many SP. The even slim chance of Gallardo or Lohse going there is now gone.

 

I would think they might look to trade at least one SP at this point, rather than acquire another.

Porcello, Masterson and Wade Miley. They'll go with Kelly and Buchholz.

 

It's a solid rotation - nothing great, but solid. Boston has a few nice arms at AAA (Owens, Ranaudo, Rodriguez) who could potentially help during the season and take a slot or two in 2016. For Boston, I like how they kept their top young players such as Betts and Swihart, and avoided burdening themselves with long term deals for average talent.

 

At this time, Gallardo and Lohse aren't really options. Boston got a bunch of similar types on their roster.

Talent-wise, that rotation doesn't look all that much different than the Brewers. Porcello may be better than anything Milwaukee has but we'll see if he can put together back-to-back solid seasons. I think it has more upside, but that's about it.
