The Rockies named a Milwaukee-area native as their new GM today. Congrats to a fellow Hilltopper! He's been in their inner-circle for a long time, so it's hardly a surprise.

Trent Baalke; GM of the 49ers, attended Laconia High School in Rosendale. I grew up about 10 minutes from there but had absolutely no idea who the guy was until he hit the big time. Not sure what other major sport GM's and Head Coaches are from WI.

Yeah I also am from Fondy and coach/teach in Rosendale-Brandon school district. During football two years ago when the 49ers were in town, Trent came back to visit, talk to the team, and watch our freshman team play. It was great getting to hangout with him, talk to him and hear his amazing road to where is now. The guy was not working in sports at all and working in sewers at one point. He was a pretty talented player back in the 80's but nothing super special, a lower level college type.
