Roenicke made the mistake last night of not taking Fiers out of there after he hit Stanton. You could see Mike was very upset at what happened. My hubby and I both said to each other Mike's control would now be out the window and sure enough he hit the next guy and all hell broke lose. I don't think the guy who hit Go-Go in the elbow was being retaliatory either and probably didn't need to be tossed.

Thinking about this, I'm not sure RRR could pull him. I don't know that you can pull a pitcher in the middle of an AB (which it was, an 0-2 count to Stanton's PH). He obviously could've faked an injury (oh, my arm!)

What really bothered me is he wasn't allowed any warmup pitches after a 20 or so minute delay.

It's legal to replace a pitcher mid-count, but since it was an 0-2 with Fiers pitch count still reasonable, I would imagine that Ron was trying to save the bullpen and hope Fiers recovers. It was still the 5th inning and Reed Johnson was up (he literally had the worst 1 pitch strikeout AB in MLB history). Maybe it would've been better to bring in Jeffress for a pitch, but I can't fault Ron for this weird situation.

Also just noticed Stanton got credit for the strikeout.

Just watched and boy... what a clown. Why was he blaming the umpires? For not tossing Fiers after Stanton got hit? His rants are childish and nonsensical. I get being mad at your best player going down, but to be in front of a mic and start calling out players..

As for the game: wouldn't be surprised if Broxton closes tomorrow if (hopefully) given the chance. K Rod has pitched last 3 games, so if the situation is high leverage, maybe he'll get used. K Rod looked great tonight and last night, so hopefully he has turned things around if he stays the closer.

Lol. "He didn't swing! He was trying to get out of the way!"

No, sorry buddy. If he was trying to get out of the way he would've kept his hands down and backed up. Instead his hands started moving towards the plate (you know, like what happens when you swing) and by the time he realized it was inside it was too late to stop his swing and hit him in the hand.

Whomever gets two of the strikes gets the K. Whomever is the first to get two balls gets the BB.

RR could have pulled Fiers out of the game in the middle of the bat. The next pitcher would get 8 warm up pitches on the mound. Would that pitcher really have had better control?
