Link Report for Southern League Playoffs - Latest: Stars Rally Comes Up One Run Short

Mass Haas
... and just as I give up hope they load the bases, take a walk for run, and Arcia plates 2 more to bring the score to 7-5!

Suter retired the first 5 hitters and then got hit by a comebacker. He gave up a home run on the first pitch after that. He kept going but was ineffective for the most part. Marzec was not good and Shackleford gave up a home run to the first man he faced. That's when I gave up but it looks like they at least made it close.

Lookouts Win Nailbiter To End Stars' Season

Steve Jarnicki, Huntsville Stars

Chattanooga, TN - The Chattanooga Lookouts held off a ferocious late rally by the Huntsville Stars and advanced to the Southern League Championship Series with a 7-6 win over the Stars Monday night at AT&T Field.

The Stars built a 2-0 lead early but then trailed 7-2 midway through the game.

The Stars began their comeback in the top of the seventh inning.

The Stars loaded the bases against relief pitcher Jose Dominguez. Ralston Cash was then summoned in out of the bullpen.

Cash walked Josh Fellhauer forcing in Erik Komatsu making it 7-3. Orlando Arcia, two batters later, smoked a two-run single to left making it 7-5.

After Dominguez and Cash could only retire one batter collectively, Daniel Coulombe was brought in as the third Lookouts reliever in the inning.

Coulombe struck out Nick Ramirez and got Hector Gimenez to fly out to leave the tying runners on base.

In the top of the ninth, Yadiel Rivera began the inning with a single off Coulombe. With one out and two batters later, Nick Shaw ripped a double to right center.

With Rivera at third and Shaw at second, Coulombe struck out Arica for the second out.

With pinch hitter Shawn Zarraga at the dish and the game on the line, Coulombe delivered a wild pitch allowing Rivera to score from third.

With Shaw standing at third base with two outs, Zarraga struck out to end the game.

The Lookouts were trailing 2-1 going into the bottom of the fourth.

Chris O’Brien tied the game against LHP Brent Suter on an RBI single to left.

Later in the fourth, pinch hitter Angel Sanchez gave the Lookouts a 3-2 lead on his RBI single off Stars reliever Eric Marzec (0-1).

Chattanooga padded their lead in the bottom of the fifth. Corey Seager singled off Gimenez’s glove to make it 4-2.

While Kevin Shackelford was on the mound in the fifth, O’Koyeah Dickson hit a three run home run giving the Lookouts a 7-2 lead.

The Lookouts advance to the Southern League Championship series as they host the Jacksonville Suns in game one on Wednesday.

The Stars season came to an end with the loss. The Stars finished with a 77-63 record during the regular season.
