If this score holds, we'll have been outscored 80-38 in our last 12 games. That includes a 10-1 win.

Yup. After the opener in SD the season run differential was +42. Heading into this evening it was +13. If the margin stays the same until the end (I'm expecting a meaningless solo homer yet . . . ) it will be down to +7.

We threw in the Towel in this game in the 7th inning? Down 6 to the Cubs? Schafer hitting for Braun to lead the 8th?

The towel was thrown in with one out in the bottom of the first. RRR was kind enough to wait six more innings to keep up appearances.

Putrid. Inexcusable run by this team. Do they even have a clue they are in the Playoff race? Hey Why doesn't somebody tell them they are in the race for a top 5 Draft pick. Then we'll play .545 ball!

:laughing I was thinking the same thing

What an embarrassment this team has become. From 18 games over .500 at one point to losing 7 in a row, and sliding out of playoff contention. I'm sorry, but if this doesn't get turned around, and fast, then somebody needs to get fired. Inexcusable.

I waffle on this over the course of the season, but tonight again makes me think this is the offseason to trade Gallardo (IF they can get something worthwhile for him AND if a suitable replacement is found). He's simply nowhere nearly reliable enough.

To wit: In his last 10 starts...

- 5 really good starts in his last 10 (0 or 1 ER), but

- 5 equally putrid ones (21 ER in 25.1 IP for a 7.46 ERA; also 52 H or BB for a WHIP of 2.05).

Point: When he's good, he can be really good (usually for up to 6-7 IP before his pitch counts ends his night). But there's just as good of a chance that he throws up on himself and gives the team ZERO chance to win the game from the get-go.

Wow, I didn't realize that Reynolds was batting south of .200.

His OBP is .289!! He shouldn't start a game again. Let Rogers / Clark take some tries. Reynolds sucks!

Since August 1, he's hitting below .150 with an OBP under .220. And he's playing a whole lot more than Overbay, who's only hitting .333 yet getting half the PA's as Reynolds in that time.

Colorado's unfortunate asking price for Morneau makes the pain of Reynolds that much worse.

Between Reynolds, Segura (0 HR & 6 RBI since July 1), and the pitcher's spot as regular black holes for most of this year, plus the major slumps of Gomez (.238 BA since August 1) & Braun (.239 since August 1), there's about as close to nothing going on offensively as possible and it's running a very serious risk of totally wasting this whole season, which had until the past 2 weeks been something to be pretty proud of, all things considered.

I didn't even watch the game today. Ever since mlb extra innings quit being on cable or DTV I haven't been able to watch. There were some local games I got against the Reds, but I can honestly say I haven't watched a game all year. I was planning to go to the rest of the home games, but I just sold all my tickets tonight. I lowered my price on stub hub for level 1 seats to $10.00. Poof there they went. Some cards fans, cubs fans likely took them. Even if they win 90% of them they will still miss the playoffs.

mlb is ******** for getting rid of mlbextra innings on cable. That was a bad move. At least I wasn't as vested in this team as all the previous years. God what you guys are going through after leading the central for 5 months then to miss the playoffs all in the month of September should have all of you drunk by now and off the wagon and royally PISSED!

Btw.. Mark A will be so pissed and horrified that I'd expect a front office bombing/annihilation.

Whatever you need to tell yourself.

Anyway, the team just looks absolutely horrible right now. They can't possibly play this bad the rest of the month...can they??? I don't know. I turned off last night's game after the second inning. It was obvious the team has no fight going right now. They need to snap out of this funk they're in, and quick.
