Bianchi career at AAA: .299/.349/.428

Bianchi career at AA: .287/.339/.375

Gomez career at AAA: .278/.319/.485

Gomez career at AA: .221/.259/.345

Lets not get too carried away with what Gomez has done this year. Prior to this year he's never been close to the hitter in the minors Bianchi (who's only 17 months older) has been. It's a huge stretch to think Gomez can make the leap to the big leagues. He's worth thinking about a 40 man spot, but I don't see that happening if it does until after the season.

At this point I think you need to give Rogers the chance to win either the 3B or 1B job next year with hopefully Aram taking the other position. He is old for a prospect now but if he can hit he should find a place on the team. He looks very much like a Khris Davis; he is a little bit old for a prospect, has some defensive questions marks, and has hit at every level. He is the closest thing we have to a corner infield prospect capable of playing in MLB right now.

An to add to my above comment you really have to like the amount of starting pitching depth the Crew is accumulating in the minors. No top prospects or anything but at least a couple of Jungmann, Bradley, Lopez, Cravy, Wagner, T Williams, D Williams, and Medeiros are likely to turn out to be competent to above average starters and at least half of those names will be ready in 2015 or 2016.

Final: DSL Tigers 12, DSL Brewers 6

DSL Brewers Box Score

Brewers pitchers gave up 12 runs on 16 hits as they dropped another game to the Tigers by a score of 12-6. Nattino Diplan started and allowed eight runs in three innings, falling to 0-5 on the season. Boanerges Nova followed with four innings in which he gave up just one run and Juan Diaz worked the final two, allowing three runs. Yerald Martinez had the lone multi-hit game for the Brewers, going 2-for-4 with a double and a walk. Franmy Pena tripled, walked and drove in three runs. Julio Mendez also tripled while Juan De Los Santos and Nicol Valderrey each added a double. On the bright side, it was a rare error-free game for the Brewers, though their pitchers did manage six wild pitches, a hit batter and a balk.

DSL Brewers Play-By-Play

There's a lot of ugly in the game log, but the Brewers put together a nice bottom of the eighth inning

DSL Brewers Bottom of the 8th

Yerald Martinez singles on a ground ball to shortstop Isrrael De La Cruz.

Juan De Los Santos grounds into a double play, shortstop Isrrael De La Cruz to first baseman Yerison Pena. Yerald Martinez out at 2nd.

Nicol Valderrey doubles (7) on a line drive to right fielder Ariel Serrano.

Franly Mallen singles on a fly ball to left fielder Felix G. Santana. Nicol Valderrey to 3rd.

Kevin Martinez walks. Franly Mallen to 2nd.

Franmy Pena triples (1) on a fly ball to left fielder Felix G. Santana. Nicol Valderrey scores. Franly Mallen scores. Kevin Martinez scores.

Julio Mendez triples (2) on a fly ball to right fielder Ariel Serrano. Franmy Pena scores.

Nicolas Pierre grounds out, third baseman Randel Alcantara to first baseman Yerison Pena.

Is Jason Rogers the next under the expert's radar Brewer prospect that will follow Scooter Gennett and Khris Davis and have success in the big leagues? The success of those two certainly gives credence to that possibility.

I really think he is that guy and he has really earned it. Gennett (big $) and Davis (top 10 pick) at least have some pedigree. Lucroy was a an overlooked higher pick that snuck up on idiots. Rogers was a 32nd round pick. Nearly a 10% walk rate with a nice looking hit tool and pop. He's at worst a grade A bench bat.

BTW, MiLB.com's new stat pages are just fantastic.

Really? The reduction in splits information is drastic. Where are the monthly stats? And just raw batting average or batting average against for splits? No clue as to sample size for any split line, such as vs. LHP or RHB. A big step down, and I was going to contact MiLB to voice concerns, they've always been good about getting back to us in the past. Maybe I'm missing something, but I really dislike the new format and find it lacking big-time compared to the past.

They are all right there in the middle with the career, gamelogs, splits, and batter vs. pitcher my friend. I especially like the fielding option under the career tab.

It could be a browser issue for you, the tabs are between the season numbers and the video at the bottom of the page.

I agree on not getting too carried away, but in addition to his newly found pop, he is by all accounts an elite defender as well. He was regarded as the best defender in Rockies system and I believe Rick Sweet called him the best defender in the PCL. At the very least, as a 40 man add, he could provide a solid defensive replacement.

Rivera could be another one of those guys. Arcia gets all the love, and for good reason. But Rivera could be one of those guys that can break through. He's only 22 in AA, and getting better.

I've said this in the past but Jason Rogers is a coaches' type of player, similar to Khris Davis. He's not going to wow anyone with his physical tools but he does many little things well and understands the game.

He won't be a plus defender or a good runner but he has a very good idea of what to do at the plate and that definitely has value. I've actually never seen him throw a ball 3rd to 1st so I haven't made any personal observations about his arm strength but he must have at least an average arm since they are giving this 3rd base experiment a serious go.

OK, yeah, should be OK now, feel better. Should have known MLBAM (or, in this case, MiLBAM :)) would never take a step back.

Now they just have to make it as easy to share data from the website as baseball-reference has...
