Wow. Swansea pull one out at the Emirates today. Good thing for goal line technology because looking at that live I didn't think there was any chance that it went in. Then Kevin Friend signals a goal after looking at his watch, Arsenal players argue and he just points at his watch with a look on his face that says "Yeah, I can't believe it went in either but the goal line technology says it did, so it's a goal." Then they showed the replay and it clearly did go in. Hell of a win for Swansea today and now only 2 points out of a Europa League berth.

Bad loss for the Arsenal today... probably "should've" had a goal or two, & dominated the match as a whole. But kudos to Swansea for a successful 'smash & grab' job today. Swansea completed the double over Arsenal this season, with both wins coming on Bafétimbi Gomis headers... when he was a second-half sub in both matches. Dammit!

I think Garry Monk has to be BPL manager of the year. He's done a fantastic job at Swansea!

No way Ronald Koeman is the only logical choice. His whole team was gutted in the summer and he'll finish top 7

Good shout on Koeman. Fantastic job in his first season.

Juventus makes the Champions League Final much to the dismay of kalle8. They played really well. Gave up a few chances after they scored but they actually had two better chances than any of Real Madrid's chances in the last half hour.

Leicester with the amazing comeback from the depths to stay in the Premier League! Aston Villa also safe. Hull needs a win against Manchester United or they're relegated. Sunderland and Newcastle also still in danger.

Can't happen this year but how amazing would a Tyne-Wear Derby be if the loser was relegated? Talk about bragging rights over your biggest rivals.

I hope they put the relegation matches on NBCSN and not on E! or something. Probably won't happen for ratings but I hope we get some good announcers at least. All the Champions League spots are taken and it's either going to be 2 or 3 teams fighting for the Europa League spots. The relegation battles will be by far the most interesting games next week.

They're probably going to continue to use the NBCSN overflow channels for any matches not on NBCSN or big-NBC, no?

  • 2 weeks later...

The relegation playoffs reach their culmination today and Sunday in Scotland. Motherwell from the Premier League plays Glasgow Rangers from the Championship League.

Along with Celtic, Rangers is one of the two Old Firm teams in Scotland. They have won the most top-division titles in Scottish football history. Three years ago, Rangers had been dropped from the Premier League to the lowest division due to financial difficulties and liquidation, followed by a new club that took the Rangers name and history.

After climbing up the pyramid during the past several seasons, Rangers finished 3rd in the Championship this year. They defeated the 4th place (Queen of the South) and 2nd place (Hibernian) teams from the Championship in a ladder type play-off, each round being two legs: (a) 4th plays 3rd; (b) winner plays 2nd; © winner plays 11th place Premiership team.

I've been a Motherwell fan for about a decade. As bad as the Brewers have been this year, it's been even worse following another team that's been facing the possibility of relegation since winter. Hoping that the Steelmen can prevail over one of the historic powers of Scottish football and stay up!

Good lord it's hopeless. Just drop out of World Cup already. Don't keep enriching these clowns. If the US and UK drop out, it will go a long way toward getting them where they live. In the pocketbook.
