To be fair, I only said "Roenicke's stupid for this if Garza is not injured"

As I have stated just a few posts ago, I'd rather Garza not be injured. We already know Roenicke is not the brightest crayon in the box/sharpest knife in the drawer/a few clowns short of a circus. What we don't need is for Garza to be out for any length of time.

I will say I'm glad it was because of an injury and not some stupidity by our manager. :tongue

I'm not. I already knew Roenicke was stupid. We don't need Garza being hurt. He's been pretty darn good for the last 2 months +. Losing him for any period of time at all will be a killer.

Of course I"m not happy about Garza being hurt and I hope he'll be okay but it would be super concerning of our manager would pull his pitcher in that situation without the hurler being injured.

There was really a lot of jumping to conclusions on this board today. I get it, in-game-threads are by nature going to be that way, but geez. RR knows that Garza is throwing a one hitter and is not just going to remove him at 70 pitches or whatever for no reason. I hope Garza's injury isn't too serious. Can you imagine if RR would have run him back out there and then he suffers an even worse injury because he didn't remove him when he did?

Given RRR's dubious track record I think we were all pretty justified in thinking it was just another dumb managerial decision.

And they're saying it was a 'communication failure' to not tell the broadcasters about the injury, leaving everyone to speculate? How could that possibly happen? You have Telly sitting there doing absolutely nothing. Have him walk 5 feet to the dugout and ask, "Hey, is Garza hurt?" "Yeah, he's hurt." "Ok." End of speculation.

A lot of people posted the "if Garza isn't injured, there will be some seriously explaining to do" type of posts. At least we got our answer, but it doesn't mean this loss is any less frustrating. The bullpen still should have done their job.. and the offense could have been better than 2 runs.

So, this probably means that Marco "HR" Estrada gets inserted back into the starting rotation for at least one start, probably more?

I think we all said RR would be stupid if Garza wasn't injured. What fueled this speculation was there were no reports during the game about what was going on with Garza. Had we been told right away we wouldn't have ranted like we did.

Well, there is that. John Lackey is not an ace. He's a good (not amazing) pitcher. (he's also a piece of crap, lol)

I didn't like the matchups in the 7th. Duke to face the power hitting righty (Holliday), and the the righty (Jeffress), facing the lefties Pierzinsakdflkdy and Tavares.

You know your bullpen has turned into a steaming pile of crap when your'e actually hoping he'll bring in Kintzler to get a groundball.

Ugh.

At least he should be ready to pitch if he's the scheduled starter...since according to RRR it takes him until the 6th to be ready out of the pen if the starter blows up in the 2nd. :ohwell

Or they use the off-day to push his start.

So RRR gets a pass, and it wasn't just pure stupidity after all...

It is telling that most of believed he would yank him for a pinch hitter though, that tells me that he is still bad at managing baseball.

I'm not sure how people's misconceptions of what they thought might have happened tells you that someone is bad at their job.

Here what I saw happen in game,

Garza pitching great, showed no signs of tweaking his oblique.

Garza had a helmet on his head, and a bat in his hands, getting ready to go to the on-deck circle, but was called back, and pinch-hit for.

Nothing gets mentioned of any kind of injury until post-game.

Then the squid we call manager, says first that "Garza told him he didn't feel like he could go back out." Then when asked why he had a helmet and bat in his head, RR stutters, and says, "Oh he must've misheard what I said, I told him he was done."

I say fire him now. It's really NOT that hard to manage baseball games, therefore, it wouldn't take much to replace this squid.

Well, if you judge any of the Brewers managers by people's opinions then they have never once had a competent manager. Agree with you. Garza's health for the remainder of the season is more important than another inning or two that you'd expect our bullpen to be able to hold. The good news is the Brewers are still in first place, played some decent baseball against a team you know that's going to push things all the way to the end. Did anyone truly think the Brewers were going to run away with the division? This division is going down to the final few game of the season. There's going to be some tough losses some unexpected wins and I'm going to do my best to enjoy a good team with a shot to win the division and get to the playoffs. Every close loss doesn't have to be someones fault.

Look - I said it way earlier, but you could see Garza stretching his side in the 6th. There is a measure of plausibility that he tweaked his oblique.....

BUT - it didn't look that bad....

I'd just like for RRR to say pulling him was precautionary. That would make me feel better...

Since he didn't - Not sure what to believe.

now but they should have taken this series, but it all comes down to that last 9 road games in sept

If you don't blow games then the last 9 road games may not hold QUITE as much weight. I think most of us are afraid of us playing from behind heading into that road trip rather than by how many we're leading.

Yes, one person did.

LOL, I think we've determined that your instincts and gut feelings are pretty much worthless.

I'm not worried at all. You are correct DM will be thinking WS at the trade deadline. Look for huge upgrades.

Uh huh. I am still awed by the big time moves Doug Melvin made before the deadline. :laughing
