I like a lot of what Brennan has done this season, and while his secondary skills seem solid enough his hit tool looks like it is probably not good enough as he progresses up the chain. Anyone observe anything that suggests he might be able to get the batting average up some?

That's not really helping since Bando had almost 50 points of batting average on Brennan. Guys can produce in a lot of different ways, but there a certain things that just have to be there on some level, a guy who hits .200 (which could easily be the outcome of such a low batting average right now) isn't going to walk enough as he advances, unless at the extreme he has 80 grade power.

What is "up some"?

Is he ever going to be a .270 hitter? Probably not.

I was thinking that he needed to improve enough at the lower levels, so he could hit about .250 in the majors with where his other secondary skills are at. Its hard to translate that to a specific number in the minors.

This box score wasn't worth the wait --

Final: DSL Phillies 13, @DSL Brewers 4

DSL Brewers Box Score

Game was tied at 1-1 through five, then the Phillies score nine in the top of the 6th; 17-year-old Venezuelan RHP Nelson Hernandez did not retire any of the six men he faced that inning, but was strong through five.

Five errors for the Cerveceritos.

17-year-old CF Nicolas Pierre has a promising 18 extra-base hits among his 52 knocks. He hit his 4th HR here, as well as doubled.

DSL Brewers Game Log

Sixth error for Pierre, but he also did this --

Did anyone have any reports on Medeiros' stuff? Velocity?

Tough to come by in the AZL, there are some national guys that occasionally post observations from the AZL and AFL which will be our best bet until BA updates their prospect rankings. MTBrew passes along quite a bit of information from Helena as well, but we'll have to wait until next season for that.

This tweet from his debut is the only reference I can remember seeing about his velocity since beginning in Maryvale.

@billazbbphotog: Kodi Medeiros FB was up to 94, worked around 92. FB command was off tonight. Also threw SL 79-81.
Not just “at Night” anymore.
