I've watched the Arcia fielding video like 12 times. I don't know what's more impressive. How fast he throws the ball to 1st on the first play or how in the world did he get to that Bouncer on the 2nd play? That ball seemed chopped fairly hard!

Arcia also walked earlier in the game (1-for-4). He did commit his 2nd error (throwing).

 

Arcia has matched his HR total from all of 2014 with four, and his .998 OPS is 8th best in the league, and of course, tops for any shortstop. He has more walks (eight) than strikeouts (five) in 51 AB's. With Brevard, he was 31-for-42 in SB attempts, but has yet to run this winter. A reminder that Arcia only turned 20 in August. Since he missed his age 17 season with ankle surgery, development-wise, he's a 19-year-old.

That inning included a first for baseball. Esposito (Orioles) singled to left field off Klimesh (Reds) and Mike Ohlman (Orioles) followed with a sacrifice bunt to move the runner to second base. Manager Delino DeShields called for an intentional walk and Nick Ramirez (Brewers) took first base without Klimesh having to throw a pitch.

 

This was the result of one of the rule changes MLB is testing out in the AFL to speed up play. The no-pitch walk proved to be the first time the rule was implemented.

 

"It was kind of weird," Sweeney said of the initiative. "It reminded me of back in high school where you don't have to throw any pitches, the coach just calls it and you run to first base. It's kind of different but that's how the game is so we have to play it. It's just part of the game. I knew they were going to do that to keep the double play in order. That's all they were trying to do."
