Even dumber article than Buster Olney's

Baseball has always been a pendulum that swings back and forth between offense and pitching. It will correct itself in a few years and people will be complaining there is too much scoring again.

I don't think this idea is totally stupid but I also don't see it ever happening.

He said the emphasis on using the whole field to hit must begin with organizational teaching in the low minors. “You can’t make the same impact with guys already at the major league level,” he said.

Wait... Didn't SI just post about how Braun is hitting the other way more now?

... you can’t put the shortstop in short leftfield because the throw is too long – shifts are killing one type of hitter in particular: the lefthanded pull hitter with little speed.

[sarcasm]Of course, the real solution is to allow Left handed hitters to run to 3rd base first. That will solve everything.[/sarcasm]

This is bad. Real bad. Want rule change? Talk about chips in the baseballs/bases/cleats/gloves so as to avoid any discrepancies in the game. Trying to eliminate the shift though? What a joke. If you're getting paid millions as a baseball player, and can't push bunt, maybe you don't deserve millions of dollars as a baseball player. end of story.
