The 4th Outfielder

Bombers

Unfortunately, Schafer is just having a tough go at the plate. With his defense, he would only need a little production to be a good 4th. But with a .200/.290 /.360 SLG, he isn't getting it done. (And he is hitting better vs LHP than vs RHP)

So what say you BF.net?

Is Halton an option to give a shot to? (Bonus as we can give him a go at 1B too) - currently hitting in AAA : .292 / .341 / .420 / .761

Falu? - 2014 AAA : .311 / .378 / .364 / .742

Trade?

Hermida's bat could be nice off the bench to face righties, but as others have noted in various discussions on this forum, you need an OF to back up CF. So unless you want to carry two backup OFs (which would mean carrying Schafer anyway), imo Hermida's not a realistic option.

Then neither is Halton, unless the Brewers are convinced that Braun really can play CF in a pinch.

Schafer isn't the problem. We knew the problem coming into the season and have yet to address it. We have to many backup infielders who lack positional flexibility.

Fan is short for fanatic.

I blame Wang.

Neither was Herrera, but that didn't stop Doug from giving that idea a whirl.

I think you see him (Hermida) added in Sept along with (Gomez) the SS.

at the expense of whose roster spots? neither are on the 40-man at the moment, so who gets bumped?

Falu can be taken off again, Bianchi can as well when back from injury if they feel Gomez is the better option. Wouldn't mind Gomez since he can actually back up Segura and has been great un July with a OPS near 1. Who plays center would still be an issue.

I would like to see if Halton can come up and be given a chance. It's a bonus that he can play more than just 1 position. I understand that gives us basically 3 options at 1B - but I believe his bat has warranted him being given a shot, especially with the lack of production from 1B.

As for the what happens if Gomez gets hurt, well if he gets hurt than you would re-call Schafer.
