Like that 1-7 in the lineup. With the number of free swingers on the roster, the manager needs to split them up a bit by interspersing some of the less-free swingers.

Braun at #5 makes sense. With Gomez leading off, moving Gennett to #2 is the logical move. Lucroy has shown himself to be a good #3 hitter so far. So the question is whether to put Ramirez or Braun at #4. I have no problem with Braun hitting at #5 with his current year's batting approach and the effects of his injury.

Braun at #5 also prevents the black hole of OBP and strikeouts that could run from Ramirez-Davis-Reynolds-Bianchi/Segura.

Not a fan of the free swinging corkscrew man, Carlos Gomez in the lead-off spot. I don't know that he understands what a lead-off hitter is supposed to accomplish.

Braun batting 5? Stupid.

Surely won't help his confidence. What lineup would you prefer?

I do agree with you though. Even hurt he's still 3rd in ops and is only 1 point less in OBP then scooter.

I'd rather see:

Scoots

Braun

Luc

Ramirez

Gomez

Davis

Overbay/Reynolds

SS's that his like pitchers

Pitchers

Why have one of your best hitters hitting 5th getting less ABs? Dumb.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

RRR said that in case Braun has to come out of the game, didn't want to mess with the top of the order.

Having Scaffer in the 2 hole later in the game screws up nothing. He's been pretty good as of late getting on base.

...and so then Gomez with the team's 2nd highest OWAR batting 5th in your ideal line-up makes sense how?

Is it too much to ask to get some runs off of mediocre pitcher like Buchanan?

1 hit through 4......

That tends to happen when you swing at everything. I'm not able to see this game, but is guess they are swinging an everything.

Nobody on this team other than Lucroy makes the pitcher work, so their pitch counts are still good come the end of the game. Some of them are just not good enough to foul of pitches or have a good enough eye to lay off pitches once they get two strikes on them, so they want to get a hit before that happens.

With Gomez ahead of Lucroy if he gets on base he can steal and Lucroy will have a hole at second to hit through.

They are - the game looks a lot like last night. Grounders to short and 3rd all game.
