Come on, Yo, don't let either of these two guys in.

Braun 7 for his last 22 (.318). Showing some signs of life.

All in all, a nice start for Yo going 6 and giving up one run. If we can hold them in the 7th, then we can get to Smith and K Rod.

Gallardo is having a great June, but these 6/7 inning 100-120 pitch games are frustrating!

If we win this one, we'll have the most wins in the Majors, as the A's lost. They're 47-30. We'd be 48-31.

Ah yes, good ol' Kid Nichols. If I'd seen the trivia question, I'd have known that only because we had a topic about best Hall of Famers from our home state on my vintage baseball card forum.

Of course, we all know who Wisconsin's best hitter is.

Milwaukee's own, the great Al Simmons. Lifetime .334 AVG, 2,927 hits, 307 home runs, 1,828 RBI.

Can you name the other WI born HOFer besides Nichols, Grimes and Joss?

See above. :laughing

Al Simmons started his career with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1924, hitting .308 with 102 RBI. The next season, Al was the MVP runner up, hitting .387 with 122 runs, 253 hits, 43 doubles, 12 triples, 24 home runs, 129 RBI and 392 total bases. In one of the worst MVP votes in Major League history, he lost to Roger Peckinpaugh, shortstop for the American League Champion Washington Senators. Peckinpaugh hit .284 with 67 runs scored, 4 home runs and 64 RBI.

Simmons played 20 seasons in total, making stops with the Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers, the aforementioned Senators, the Boston Bees, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Boston Red Sox. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1953, appearing on 199 of 264 ballots (75%).

Al Simmons was a hit machine, low walk % and one of the quickest players to reach 1000 hits by games played. However, he only led the league in hits twice, can you name the 2 other WI born players who led their league in hits more often than Simmons? (4 each) Everyone has heard of one, the other is very obscure

One I know off the top of my head was Harvey Kuenn.

Nice night for Brauny, getting on base 3 times tonight. Maybe try to steal here?

The other is Ginger Beaumont. Huh. I was looking at a few of his T206 cards last night, trying to find a nice one to add to my collection.

I didn't know he had that many hits in his career. 1,759 hits in 12 years. He averaged 195 hits per 162 games. Even back at the turn of the century, that was a pretty good total.

Damn. I thought Gomez had a shot at that. Rendon is going to be a heck of a player for a lot of years.

Best Ginger Bauumont stat: Part of the only ever teammate triple crown where a different player on the same team won the batting, HR and RBI title.

1902 Pirates

AVE .357 Beaumont

HR 6 Tommy Leach

RBI 91 Honus Wagner

Other difficult WI trivia:

Kuenn had the most all star appearances among WI born players with 10 (in 8 seasons)

Who had the 2nd most?

Behind Simmons' 2927 hits, who has the next most among WI born players with 2651?

I'm feeling a Khris Davis opposite field home run in the bottom of the 8th. :)

Ok, trivia question. What Wisconsin native was involved in one of the most famous gaffes in baseball history?
