Soft pop up to end the game. Fitting that our last out is a weak fly ball.

Nice job Brewers. Way to have the offense go completely invisible for two nights. Gomez looked just flat out terrible at the plate. This one really, really stings. And we're likely looking at a sweep with Straburg vs Estrada tomorrow.

Had several chances to win and just couldn't get a hit or execute basically anything on offense all night long.

Based on tonight's performance, any of these would have been fitting for the last out:

(a) strikeout;

(b) ball pounded into the ground (a la Segura) or double play;

© another first pitch Gomez weak out with runners on.

Too many wasted opportunities tonight. If this series is a harbinger of Brewers' performances against good teams, it won't be quite as fun a summer as it looks like it could be.

Let's get back on the road. We stink at home lately.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

And the Nats have their closer ready to go. I'd tell Ron Roenicke to take notes, but I'd be wasting my breath.

Give me a break.

I'm sorry, but was that not accurate? When the Nats got a lead, Soriano was ready to go. K Rod, on the other hand, got used in the ninth inning.

Do you think that Roenicke does a good job managing the bullpen?

The bullpen was great. RR left his two worst bullpen pitchers out of the game tonight. After 16 innings, something had to give.

I agree that the bullpen performed well tonight. The guys he put out there did well. Fiers pitched, what, 4 innings? I thought he did well, too, until the home run. My comment was directed at Roenicke generally burning through his bullpen too quickly. I would rather have somebody come in and work a second inning if they only threw 9-12 pitches in the first inning, and in doing so, maybe somebody else in the pen doesn't have to work.

My main concern for tomorrow is Lucroy. He basically caught two games tonight, and without the rest in between games that would come with a double header. We need his bat in the lineup tomorrow against Strasburg, and I'm thinking he won't be able to go. We'll see Maldonado behind the plate.

With the home runs Estrada is going to give up, we need all our best bats in there to score some runs.

The All Star break can't get here soon enough. I'd love to see some guys get a few days off to rest.

When you are at home, you do not save your closer for a lead because if you obtain a lead in the 9th inning and after you win the game instantly if you obtain the lead. This is why in a tied game, even down a run or two, that you see closers pitch the 9th at home. There's no possible "save" opportunity after that.

I made it tot he 14th inning. That was just one of those games they simply couldn't come up with the big hit against a fantastic pitching staff. Every reliever WAS has is pretty solid.

Not optimistic that Estrada is going to help us avoid the sweep today but you never know

The 6 -1 road trip in between means nothing?
