I just think of all my years at third base coach telling the runners, 'we are down by a couple, so don't do anything silly, the guy batting has got to score for us to win... if he scores, then you will score easily, so don't do anything silly, just relax, you are not the important run... let the guy bat'

I am only watching on gameday, but man oh man, what a series. What a gift from the Mountains to the Great Lakes. If I were a Rockies fan I would be more than livid.

Can I ask a side question? What is our OPS with RISP - position in the league. I get the feeling we are below average on that important stat. Just in this game we had a couple chances to explode away, but failed with RISP. But maybe I am wrong.

I am soooo done with K-Rod... I just freaking hate watching the guy.

Why do so many here get on K-Rod, i just don't get it and defies the facts? Do people expect a closer to never blow saves, allow baserunners, and/or get in scary situations?

He has a fabulous .091 WHIP. So many act like he's constantly got lots of runners on base and each save is a roller coaster, yet he's among the top 5 of closers at least number of baserunners allowed per inning. His 42/9 K/BB ratio is outstanding, again among the best of all closers. His .188 BAA is also top notch. He only has two blown saves even though he leads the league in saves.

Sure, i'd rather have someone like say Chapman or Kimbrel who throw 98mph with command, but those guys are rare. OveralL though, K-Rod has been outstanding and a big part of the Brewers success so far. Will Smith has pitched a little better, but if say he was made closer and K-Rod the 8th inning guy, that accomplishes almost nothing given 3 outs in the 8th inning of a close game mean as much as 3 outs in the 9th. It also takes away the flexibility of using Smith in the 7th inning at times when teams have buserunners on in a close game.

Thanks topper! Talk about me standing corrected! That is a solid, solid 4th. Tied for 3rd. And a big gap to 5th. And you likely should exclude American League as you get the DH (not pitcher) at bats with RISP. So, we and thin air Colorado are the run away leaders.

I just don't believe Braun is healthy....just seems like he can't pull anything right now. Also find it funny that people think he is 100% healthy and its because he isn't juicing. Please do explain 2012 to me then? He was on the most wanted list for sure and would have been a fool to still be using. Just my outside 2 cents perspective.

Influenza? On a serious note, it's a very good possibility that Ryan Braun will never be "healthy" as you view "healthy". There is a very strong liklihood that his thumb (if that is what you speculate is making him not "healthy") will never be 100% and will hurt at periods of time for his entire career. Perhaps that thumb isn't strong enough to pull the ball 350ft anymore. I do know this, it isn't going to keep him out of the lineup. A DL stint isn't going to suddenly repair that thumb to the point that he starts pulling the ball again. Why do you think he is batting 2nd? For a variety of reasons, I believe the Brewers are looking at him to be more of a table setter than driving them in and the power game. I'm okay with that.

Braun's going to be out a few days as he supposedly rolled his ankle. It's a relatively minor injury, according to ESPN, and he should be back mid week.

I say good, let him have a few days off. He'd started 24 games in a row, and he's clearly not right. Maybe a few days off recharges his batteries.

I don't believe that he's going to be relegated to "table setter status" the rest of his career. His numbers, outside of his average, are still pretty good. 27 extra base hits in 58 games, that's about on par with his career averages. That would be 75-80 in a full season.

He's just hit a slump. A month ago he was raking with a .968 OPS. He'll rake again.

This! The hand-wringing over his health is getting a little nauseating.

I know but as a fan it is frustrating watching such a talented hitter swing and miss pitches he should be hitting out of the park.

Agreed. Due to the steroid thing, everything Braun does now is going to be over-analyzed to scrutinous degrees.

Reminds me of my Dad when he would have a fit if the greyhound he bet on didn't "do his business" right before the race. Over-scrutinizing small samples. If Braun hits .235 over 162 games with 5 HR's, then I'll start to worry.

Good afternoon boys. They are showing your game on MLB right now so I'm tuned in. Going to sweep those Rockies huh?

Even tho we went for the sweep and had leads in every game I held my breath every time the Rockies were batting. They are truly a great offensive team but they screw up a lot defensively and their pitching staff is a mess with guys hurt.
