That is just careless base running. Absolutely mindless, carless and painfully unaware of the situation. Positively no need to get greedy in that spot. NONE. NONE. Especially when Parra is the gunner.

THAT is so frustrating.

Wasn't even close. Who makes that call in a situation like that? Is it the player or is it Sedar? I wonder if the Brewers lead the league in being thrown out at the plate.

That ones on the windmill. It was close and took a great pick by the catcher. But yes I Parra has a cannon.

The Brewers have to be leaders in leaving outs and giving runs away on the basepaths.

Have made 26 outs on the bases, 7 at home plate.

10th in the league, Dodgers first with 33

The 7 puts them 17th in mlb at home plate. Cincy and Pit are 1-2 with 12 and 11.

The brewers actually rank as the best baserunning team in baseball, but whatever. Believe in your knee jerk emotional reaction all you want.

For sure. Thanks for setting me straight. I'm shocked you aren't coaching somewhere at the pro level or at the very least in an MLB front office.

Brewers are second in mlb in picked off and picked off caught stealing, so that frustration is justified but they are decent in all other base running statistics.

They are actually near the bottom of the league in extra bases taken, so the over aggressive approach might be an illusion as well.

Just not getting thrown out isn't the only component of good baserunning. You have to account for what you gain by taking a risk too. Fangraphs BsR pegs them at over 5 runs above average on the basepaths which is the best in all of baseball. When you take risks sometimes you get outs, but the benefits the Brewers are getting from their speed and agressiveness far outweighs that.

That does make sense.

All told that's positive momentum, taking 3 out of 4 from AZ. And today with no Luc, Braunie, or Will Smith available.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

You guys should start a thread in ML forum about those base running stats. Love seeing the actual numbers and it may it down some of the hyperbole about RR being terrible or that the Brewers must be the worst base running team because no one else ever makes outs on the base paths.

How many of those outs, I wonder were "sure" outs, and how many of the extra bases did they take were pretty sure bets to be an extra base?

I have readily admitted that the eye test often doesn't stand up to stats, but the stats for baserunning also don't measure egregious blunders. They just measure extra bases, and outs.

Really Ron? Braun and Lucroy both need to have off on the same day? I'm fine with days off, but both of them together?

And no Reynolds. Yesterday's win was especially gratifying with these guys on the bench.

I am always surprised by Khris Davis power, only because he doesn't look like the prototypical big man. Man oh man does he have a heavy swing. I don't think people realize how hard he hit that ball yesterday to the opposite corner.
