2014-06-17 Brewers (Garza) at Diamondbacks (Miley), 8:40 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 4-3]

Sure didn't take advantage of the Cardinals finally losing. Really shady defense in the first inning gave them a run and our offense was pretty non-existant the last 5 innings. Frustrating but can't win them all I guess.

Get kinzler off this club this is at least 3 games he has single handedly cost the brewers by himself.

That's a little harsh. He gave up one run. And if Weeks had any range at all, he might have gotten to that ball (maybe). Not to mention the two botched DP's in the first inning that cost us a run. Hard to blame a guy for giving up one run and blaming the entire game on him. The last ball wasn't exactly drilled, just in the right spot.

Though I do wonder why we didn't leave Smith in. He threw only 4-5 pitches and they had some lefties coming up.

another brilliant decision by RRR. i hate it when managers bring in a reliever for a couple pitches. no wonder the bullpen is tired. this guy uses a 100 people every night. smith probably doesn't give up that lame @ss run.

This isn't 'singlehandedly'. The offense failed to score. The defense gave up an unearned run. Kintzler sucked, but to say he 'single handedly' cost them the game is false.

Thanks captain cliff notes. Who got the loss?

I don't think Kintzler is great, and he's lost a couple games and put himself in some jams. But he's only given up 3 ER in his last 15 outings (covering about 13 innings).

I question bringing him in when we had Smith still available and two other lefties we could have brought in based on where they are in the order, but it's not "single handidly" his fault. Do you blame EVERY RP that blows a game? They're going to give up run occasionally. Blame the offense for doing nothing for 5 innings or for Rickie Weeks handing them a free first inning run more than Kintzler.

So any time a pitcher gets a loss, the entire game should be pinned directly onto their shoulders? Kintzler gave up one run, it's not like he walked four guys or blew a five run lead. Good grief.

Rough to see that routine grounder. Scooter makes that play 99 times out of 100. Weeks??? well, what matters is he didn't make this one.

Agree with this 100%. Off the bat, I thought easy grounder. Then I realize that Weeks is absolutely nowhere near the ball and couldn't even touch it on a dive. A 2b with even average range is going to field that ball and likely get the out. Weeks really hurt us in this game in the field and at the plate.

Hahaha. To say one person lost this is ridiculous. Weeks' error cost them a run. The offense was non existant save for the Davis homer. The Prado hit was crushed. Other than that he got two weakly hit grounders for outs and a third weakly hit grounder that barely snuck through.

A horrible night would be getting rocked all over the park. Hell, K-Rod was far worse last night than Kintzler was tonight and K-Rod even got a save!

He's been a pain to watch for a while. :tongue How long are we stuck with this guy? This situation reminds me of Bill Hall...

Weeks has been pretty good against LHP this year, but his defense is just awful. Would it be that terrible to let Gennett get an occasional start against a LHP? I understand sitting him against the tough ones, but occasionally he's got to start, just to at least see what he's got?

You said this loss is 'Single Handedly" on Kintzler. I'm pointing out the multiple reason why that's not true. If we're still measuring performance based on pitchers W/L records, I guess it's 1970.

Is anyone else concerned about Braun? He did hit the ball hard in a couple atbats but I want to see that swagger. He didn't do anything after getting hit by a pitch or when the umpire called him out on a ball. A couple years ago Braun would have went off seems like he is playing really reserved.

I'm concerned by how much crap he's swinging at. Not his swagger.

kind of goes together. maybe he needs glasses although the umpire tonight could have used some glasses on a couple 3rd strike pitches

Buddy of mine made an interesting observation. ..bottom of the 9th winning run on 3rd at Miller Park - fans are all standing and making tons of noise. Bottom of the 9th winning run on 3rd at Chase Field - most people sitting in their seats calmly watching.

I was ok starting the inning with Kinztler, but once they got the double and two lefties in a row were due up next, why not use Duke? That is precisely why he's on the roster. We are carrying an extra guy in the bullpen and have three lefthanders out there. It's not like the pen was shorthanded if the game went to extras after using Duke.
