Im watching the FSN AZ feed and they havent shown the dugout after the GS but they have shown Gibby fist bumping Marshall several times and all the high fives in the dugout

Commentators have anything to say about that? Were they onboard with it? That type of reaction is pretty classless, regardless if you feel we deserved it or not.

there are different ways to go about what Gibson wanted to do... and he chose an option toward the less honorable end of the spectrum.

but let's not forget that a juiced up Braun almost single handedly eliminated the D-Bags from the playoffs.

It is hard to use appropriate language about Gibson - he is definitely PE#1 w LaRussa gone. Last night was classic too - the umps on the field give him a gift when he's out of challenges and their reward is to get yelled at when he doesn't like the call from NY. They'll know better next time.

Not watching the game........am I to understand Gibson had his guys hit two batters in a row.....to load the bases......in a one run game?

Is "old school baseball" THAT important that retaliation is more important than winning?

I don't like a lot of things Roenicke does, and I honestly wish we had a better manager, but I'm SO happy we don't get involved in the stupid retaliation games, and that Roenicke doesn't let himself get suckered into that kind of idiocy.

I don't totally agree, I think it's important to stand up for your team, but there's a time and place (just don't ask Ned Yost what that time and place is).

FWIW I think the call might have been to walk Braun there anyway. First base was open and you set up the double play with 1 out in a 1 run game. Gibson is a tool, but I have to think that's probably the right call there to put him on anyway. Looks bad in hindsight obviously but get a ground ball and you're out of the inning.

it is absolutely, tactically, the correct move to give Braun first base in that 2nd-and-3rd-1-out instance.

if you'd like to do it with 1 (or 2, as the case may be) pitches instead of 4... be my guest. while righting a perceived wrong from the past, all the better.

far different story to do it and then act like a middle schooler giggling over some old porn. (and full disclosure - I'm only basing this opinion on text above as I have not seen it)

It's debatable if putting Braun on there is the right call or not. . I can see both sides of it, though bringing up our hottest hitter to the plate is a bit odd. Does setup the double play, so I don't think putting him on 1b was necessarily the wrong call, but going about it by throwing at him twice and then throwing a party in the dugout about it really makes you look bad.

And Lucroy hitting a grand slam makes it look really, really bad. And I bet a lot of people (non-Brewers fans) that see it will think they got what was coming to them with that type of reaction.

The Lohse HBP was absolutely unintentional. Gibson is one of those guys that thinks you have to hit "one of yours" every single time his guys get hit, 'just because'. That is not the proper time and place, (and I know that's not what you're saying), but that makes him, IMO, a tool. Baseball doesn't need that mindset. If someone gets hit ON PURPOSE, or for no reason, go ahead and bean someone. But there was no need for a beaning there, and the absolutely BLATANT nature of it, (and fist bumping the guy when he comes back in the dugout) makes it an absolute joke.

I realize it's not that likely that Luc keeps up this pace all season long, but nearing the halfway mark here... this kind of offense from a catcher has to have him in any legitimate MVP discussion at this point.

If they pitch around Braun and try to get him to chase they might get the same result they did in the 9th. As noted getting runs in from 3d w productive outs is not Braun's strong suit. I'd rather see almost anyone else up in that situation.
